100% would not recommend Onyx Bar and Grill of Machesney Park! It took forever to place our order, even longer to get our order, my burger was awful, zero flavor, burnt . The topper, the wall in front of the urinal in the men’s bathroom, must’ve had boogers of 20 people wiped on the wall. Clearly bathroom cleanliness is way down the priority list! 1st and lady ti

Have the correct expectations when going to this Machesney Park bar. It's located in a strip mall, so that's the first sign it's not anything fantastic. Onyx is a place to get some pretty cheap drinks, and some basic bar food type of menu. Good place for watching games. The area and the people around it are however kind of sketchy. A thing to know is this is more of a bar than a grill. It's basically a place to drink and hang out. This is one of the better places for watching sports because of all the TVs. It's about $6 for a basic cocktail. This is nowhere to order an old fashioned. As for the food, it's also basic. It's about $6 for Chips And Salsa. The rest of the menu has meaty options like wings and things. Also know the kitchen closes early. The portions are pretty small for the entrees and prices. Be prepared for them to be out of lots of beers. It only had a few basic ones the last time here. The food is really not anything special, so it's not like you're missing much, just some pretty basic things.

Waited for a bit for service but she was very nice, people were throwing firecrackers and throwing them outside in the parking lot and I'm pretty sure this place just had a shooting. No one said anything to the people and let them continue. My friend and I left and will never return. Food was decent.

Ordered a philly and the BBQ burger. Not sure if it got entered wrong or the cook wasn't paying attention, but received the rancher burger not the BBQ one. It took about 10-15 minutes for them to put the same burger meat on a different bun with some sauce. Not sure why that took so long. There was maybe 7 people in the whole establishment. Wait time to get a drink was roughly 10 minutes. The bill still had 2 orders of butter garlic fries, which they were out of, at an extra $4. The 10% off that I received on the bill was wasn't enough to cover that cost. however, I wasn't going to argue .15¢. the server did manage to get them off at my request which was nice. She was very polite. Not the best first experience at an establishment that's been around for a while.

Was a nice place but my order was messed up completely different order then they brought another and still messed up on the order so I just took what I got. Then when cashing out they still charged for the what I didn't have she did give us 10 percent off but still didn't add up right. All in all could have done better it wasn't busy.

Does anyone know Why don't they allow men to wear tank top shirts?one of their employees told me that I had to put my sweater back on because at the bar I wasn't allowed to wear tank top shirts. I thought I was going to a sports bar, not a 5-star restaurant to have a dress code. although the women wore those shirts. is it only for men? Or it was becausenow i know why the bar was almost empty.

Horrible service the waitresses look and act like they're 12 years old. All they do talk with their friends and stare at you the whole time , super unprofessional. If you want to go back to middle school this is your bar! I see why it got shot up.

Atmosphere was odd for a bar, but I can't pin down why. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was pretty bad, all frozen stuff you could buy yourself it seemed. Prices weren't terrible. We went for a Board and Brush event, I would go back for that again. But I would not go back here on it's own merit.
