Excellent food, staff was nice. I had the birrria tacos and they were delicious! Also their ice cream is the best with many flavors to choose from! Highly recommend

Understaffed, top shelf Margheritas have gone downhill. Food was cold and took forever. Had to ask for napkins and silverware. In the past I've loved this place. It's a shame.

I love the decor - nice to see something different. And the food was much better than we were expecting. Two lost Texans found happiness in an IL Mexican-food restaurant!

Our server Christina was our server/hostess and she was top notch in customer service and making us feel at ease. The food was so clean and delicious and we will definitely be back.

Every time we travel we look for an authentic Mexican restaurant and most of the time restaurants don't live up to our expectations. We came in with low expectations and I just have to say, it surpassed our expectations. Really tastes like home!

One of the best restaurants in Southern Illinois! I live on the West Coast where there are many Mexican restaurants, but I was pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem that had perfectly prepared fresh foods with superb ingredients. The shrimp was grilled to perfection and everything was fresh, natural and not over salted (which is saying a lot these days). And what a pleasant surprise to walk next-door for ice cream and find it has the same owner as the Mexican restaurant – with all ice cream hand made on the premises with fun flavors like banana coconut, lavender, rose petal and so much more! This is a must visit, don’t miss it!!!

It was actually our first experience there. First of all the Waiter was excellent, very friendly and explained the special and answered any questions. The salsa was unique and delicious! We had the Birria Tacos. They were Amazing and fresh lime Margherita was wonderful! We then had dessert from the creamery and the ice cream was definitely creamy and delicious! We may have a new favorite Mexican Restaurant!

Our first time here was a complete wow! We had been to the creamerie once, and decided to try the restaurant with family. The menu was more traditional Mexican than the Tex-Mex we have seen in other PLACES. The chips were ok, but much better paired with the guacamole. My wife and her sister had margaritas, which had Tajin on the rims - nice surprise and very tasty! The tacos were great - I had three with barbacoa (beef cooked with spices including cinnamon - yum!), tinga (chicken with chipotle), and al pastor (slow roasted pork with spices). The al pastor stole the show IMO, with the barbacoa a close second. The charro beans were basically ham and beans, but were something much more as well. My wife had chilequiles with perfectly cooked eggs on top - my mother-in-law couldn't finish the enchiladas, but wanted to. My sister-in-law had an al pastor torta she compared favorably to others she had. Unfortunately I was too busy eating to take any pictures... If you're tired of the same old places and food, stop in. The restaurant is cozy, extremely well appointed with traditional Mexican tiles and decorations, and there's an ice cream parlor attached for dessert. We'll be back!

I come here often and take all my family and friends when they are in town because it’s just so good and different. The staff are all friendly and the food is just so fresh; not your average Mexican food. The ice cream parlor attached to the restaurant makes for a perfect dessert.

Got food to take to our hotel because we had been on the road all day. The rice is fantastic! Tamales were very dry and enchiladas were ok. My husband had the black beans and I had what I believed they called Charo beans. Go with the black beans.

This place is unlike any Mexican cuisine you'll try. It's authentic with some of the freshest tastes you'll find. Most typical Mexican restaurants are the same and don't offer anymore than the other, but La Galeria isn't typical. Also be sure to try the Mexican creamery next door, the ice cream is off the chain

A very fresh and bright locally owned Mexican restaurant with their own ice cream parlor immediately next door. I had the chicken mole over quinoa and brown rice and it was wonderful. The horchata was also very good. For dessert I had some Chocolate Ferroro de Rocher ice cream next door in a waffle cone. The meal was pricey but well worth it!

Best Mexican food in southern Illinois. Try to pick a new authentic dish each time we go in, and have never been disappointed (but the chicken mustard dish was a little too much).

So glad we found this restaurant during our travels. Delicious, carefully assembled Mexican food with fresh, well seasoned vegetables.

My wife and I were glad we stayed after splitting the Birria Pambazo which was EXCELLENT and a new experience for the both of us! Then for dessert we had some delicious Mexican ice cream and I'll definitely be looking forward to my next visit, Highly recommended, 5 stars!
