Been going there for years for lunch as well as keeping my freezer stocked with frozen empanadas. Food is wonderful and the owner (a native Argentinian) is a phenomenal person as well. This is a "MUST try" even if you've never had empanada before. Food truck typically has a somewhat smaller selection of empanadas than is available at the store (when it is open during the non-food-truck season, but the variety is still good in either case.

A hidden gem in Montgomery located directly next to Atrévete Confections. Grumpy Gaucho specializes in homemade empanadas, churros, and a few different sandwiches. The owner is incredibly kind and is passionate about his creations. We went in for the second time to order some frozen empanadas and two chocolate churros to go, and while we were waiting, he gave us two buffalo chicken empanadas because he ''made too many". Not only was this kind, the empanadas were absolutely incredible. I really love that you can dine in and order them fresh, or get them frozen to enjoy later in the week. The dining area is small but clean. Since these are pretty small bites the need for space isn't really a problem. If you love empanadas or churros and are in the area, be sure to check out these two amazing businesses next door to each other. I want to note too that in the warmer seasons, he operates a food truck as well. Be sure to check out the website to see where the food truck will be at!

The empanadas were amazing! They have a golden crust and are crispy, buttery, and everything you could ask for! A variety of flavors and are given fries to snack on while you wait for your empanadas. I will definitely be coming again!

Tried the beef criollo, bbq pork, and chicken pesto empanadas for the first time at the rustic fox market andddd it was 10/10!! sooo delicious, flavorful, and fresh. I had to go back and order more for home. I know the rest of my family will enjoy. I will definitely be back!!

Had the pleasure of trying Grumpy Gaucho’s empanadas and churros at the Lombard Food Truck Fest on 9/16 - and, there is nothing grumpy about it! The empanadas were SO GOOD! So much flavor packed into each option, I could have easily had 10 more. And it was the best churro I’ve had in a long time. Look forward to finding him again next food truck season.

They were doing an event at the corporate center today and this was one of the giveaways. It was two empanadas. I have the beef traditional and the chicken pesto. Beef traditional was tastier than the chicken pesto. Either way, they were savoring enough that it was effectively in my lunch this afternoon. Since I didn't really pay attention to price, I couldn't weigh in on that versus the amount of food and quality. Since this was an event, I suspect that they fried all of these earlier in the day so that they can be prepared to hand out empanadas at speed. I would suspect when made fresh, they would be pretty awesome.
Soo good. The best empanadas around. These are amazing and that chimichurri sauce is fantastic. Definitely recommend checking out Grumpy Gaucho. They have a brick and mortar location along with a food truck that is very active in the community.

This food truck is fabulous! Experienced their food for the first time last night. Had the chicken pesto empanadas. So delicious! They were crispy and hot and stuffed full of meat. Service was quick and the owner was very nice and engaging. Now I know why my friend ordered extras to take home! I want more! :) Already decided to check out the storefront location tomorrow and I can't wait! :)
