First and last time here. I’ve had so much Thai food in my life no joke this is the most expensive and the worst food simultaneously. Pad Thai is made with some kind of dark soy sauce. Tasted terrible. Rice was just okay it actually wasn’t terrible. Chicken satay was tiny. Overall not a good value at all and food didn’t satisfy. GO TO A MOM AND POP SHOP INSTEAD!! Also why are the prices different when I placed a takeout order vs on the menu pictures in the reviews?? Why do people eat here?

I used to live in Oak Park for 5 years and this was our go-to place. Amazing food and great service. The noodle soups are the best soup in OP, hands down! I've tried both the beef and chicken and equally great. Everything I'm back in the area, this is a must-go!!!

Simply the best Thai food anywhere in the US. Have been going to Penny's since the 90's and crave their satay, potstickers, Lad Nar, etc. Now, my son loves them too -- favorite meal...have gotten the next generation addicted to Penny's too. Hope they never change or go out of business! Love this place!

I was super excited to try this restaurant based off of multiple recommendations but I was extremely disappointed. I ordered $100 worth of food for delivery and I received a phone call saying that my driver has the wrong order but that I should keep it. I was told that they are trying to find another driver or someone from the restaurant will deliver it directly. I was understanding because things happen but this was not the case. I then received a phone call from DoorDash saying that the restaurant called the dasher directly and asked them to come back to get the correct order. Once we finally received our food which was almost 30 minutes past our original delivery time the food was cold and dry and not good at all. I'm pretty sure our food just sat there while they figured out the delivery mess. We did not receive the additional food that we were told we could keep. We didn't even receive an apology for the mistake or a partial discount. I definitely will not be ordering from here again due to the lack of customer service.

Dined at Penny's during a non busy time (noon on a weekend). I ordered pad see ew, chicken satay, and spring rolls. The spring rolls were good, and the chicken satay was bland, but moreover, I was quite disappointed with the pad see ew dish. I frequent many Thai restaurants and order the same dishes, and Penny's dish was quite a surprise. The pad see ew was covered in a dark maple syrup sauce; by far the most unsavory and unappetizing dish I've ever tasted. I did ask the hostess if maple syrup was commonly used on this dish, and she said it was probably because I requested not to include the egg. Unfortunately, I will not be going back.

Not authentic pad thai missing the tamarind flavor… very heavy on soy sauce. Dry chicken, I think they need to adjust their recipes

I used to go to Penny's noodles a lot when I was younger, and after moving out of state I feared it would go downhill. For my engagement dinner, we ordered all of my favorite dishes and had a spread. It brought tears to my eyes! Everything was just as amazing as I remembered. The Tom yum soup broth is life-changing (even though I miss their old mushrooms), and the curry fried rice with tofu was perfection. The peanut sauce goes with everything, and since we got a big container, we were able to enjoy several more meals with peanut sauce. If I could choose again, I would still get Penny's. Thank you for all of the great food over the years and hope to have you again soon!

I ordered take out from this establishment. I was craving pho and read many reviews that Penny's is the place to go! It was incredibly empty at the time so I was happy because it means quicker service. I saw on the menu that pho was listed for $13.50. When I ordered two bowls with chicken, we were charged $4.00 for the meat. The hostess/ cashier stated that $13.50 is regular and all meat is extra. Now I've been eating pho for years - anyone knows that authentic pho naturally comes with beef and beef broth. Any alterations are extra. So I was not a fan of the last minute switch-a-roo. The broth was more on the sweet side rather than savory so I wasn't a fan. Also my chicken was dark dark meat and super dry. I did enjoy the large amount of broth given and the abundance of noodles. I'm open to returning and trying other dishes as they are called penny noodles.
