After our favorite Chinese in the suburbs closed down after 30 years we've been hunting for a new favorite. So far, Heng Wing is the best we have found in the suburbs near us. Their egg rolls are huge and come with an option of home made hot mustard, tastes like a honey mustard blended with wasabi it's very good. I've tried a different dish every time, they all have been very good with generous portions you could easily split a dinner with someone or take leftovers for lunch/dinner the next day. My Hubby orders the Mongolian beef every time without disappointment. Note if you like yours spicy ask for very spicy. They also provide complimentary hot tea and almond cookies. A must try when in the area.

This has been our go to place for over 20 years. Stuck with them after the change in ownership- and things seemed like they were getting better.Until tonight. The food was horrible. I can forgive when perhaps a dish “may be off a little” on a night; but nearly every dish was off tonight.Placed an order at 612 over the phone. They say it would be about 20 mins. It was bagged and ready to go when I walked in the door at 624.It was quickly apparent this was not cooked fresh as it was ordered. The food was obviously already prepared and merely reheated. It was lukewarm at best by the time I walked in the door at home 10 minutes later. Can’t believe on a Saturday night they could cook and bag the following in less than 12 minutesCrab Rangoon (soggy/ not crisp)Spicy shrimp (looked like the shrimp was merely tossed on top of the other ingredients in the container)Cantonese noodles (cold/rubbery)Garlic chicken (chicken was rubbery)Mongolian beefChicken fried riceEgg foo young gravy. For over $100, I would have certainly waited 30-40 minutes for fresh food. In fact, I got there early in hopes of possibly having time for a drink at the bar. Was not anticipating 12 minutes for something reheated in their microwave. I was skeptical when I walked out of there; should have refused it then.***update- before I posted this I actually drove back there to share my concerns and experience. Brought the spicy shrimp with me to show and even the employee said “does not look appetizing”. They gave me $20 refund on my over $100 order. I threw the entire order in the trash. If the owner sees this post, you are free to contact me if you would like to discuss.

I'm new to the suburbs, just moved to EGV area and my brother told me about HW. The food and portionsare fantastic and I drive 4 miles out of my way home from work in Northbrook to get my goods. I will forever be a customer. I've only done carry out so I'll have to try dining in as well. The best egg rolls ever and the sweet and sour sauce is also for sale. I always pick up a pint!

Overall, it was good. The food was pretty good, but the best of all were the postickers, mongolian beef, and the egg rolls! If you're in the area and need a pick me up, this would be the place to go. The inside decor is beautiful. The food and service were good as well. If you're in the area, this would normally be a no-wait restraint and would be served right away.

Since the new owners took over the food is terrible. Tasteless, tough meat and all the gravy is different and not in a good way. They never should have changed the recipes that everyone loved. Go back to the way the food used to be.

I’ve been a Hen Weng customer for over 20 years. Unfortunately, since the sale of the business, the quality of their food has gone downhill.from eggrolls to simple, soups and chow mein across-the-board a negative. As someone who knows quality Chinese food, please don’t worry I found a substitute. Hong Kong Lite on Dundee may look like a dump, but their food Is better than the original, Hen Weng. Give it a try (takeout) they change their oil for their egg rolls often, and the quality of their food is something that you will recommend going forward.

Mu shu chicken was good and tasty. Meat pieces are very big compared to other spots. Chicken fried rice was very dry and tasteless. Mongolian beef was drenched in an ok sauce that was tough to enjoy. Egg rolls were bland as well. Used to love this place. Can't do it anymore.
