Always worth the almost 3 hour drive for us from Chicago. Everything we have tried has tasted great. We have tried the ribs, brisket, and wings, so delicious.True story, my son is a picky eater. I told him he was going to eat ribs because I wasn't getting anything else.I put 2 ribs on his plate and expecting to fight with him.He gave them a try and asked for more. Gave him 4 ribs, he ate those and asked for 2 more!He said they were good and so tender. This is coming from a teen that mainly orders Mac and Cheese wherever we go.Compliments to the chef!P.s. Don't forget to take some of their bbq sauce home!

We have had many great meals at Hickory River. It is a great place to get very good barbeque quick and with friendly service. My husband loves their polish sausage and que-shoe (pulled pork over fries with queso). I love the pork nachos and smoked potato with pulled pork. They always remember us when we come in and welcome us back.Tonight there was a small issue with my son's chicken tenders, but the manager came out, apologized, made it right, and gave us a gift card for a future visit. Like I said, service done right.If you are looking for a quick meal at Grand Prairie that is filling, tastes good, and is delivered with a smile, look no further.

Had take-out. Everything was awesome!! Brisket was amazing and the mac'n cheese was the best I've ever had. I spent over $30 but it was 4 meals me. Definitely worth every penny!!

Spent over $20 for a plate of sliced brisket. With sweetcorn and mashed potatoes and gravy as sides. Unfortunately, the brisket and mashed potatoes and gravy were barely warm. The only thing that was warm was the side dish of sweetcorn. Although it was like it was overcooked from being in the steam table for two days. Pointed out to the staff that soda had been spilt on the floor by another customer. Took them almost 15 minutes to finally decide and put out a wet floor sign and mop up the mess. Not very impressed at all.
Pretty great! We got the full rack of ribs dinner, which comes with two sides and a piece of cornbread (we ordered an additional so we could each have one) and split it. They very nicely brought it out on two separate plates without us having to ask. $36 before tip.The honey barbecue sauce was excellent! Mac & cheese and mashed potatoes were also great. The cornbread was a little too crumbly for us, but a nice size chunk.We’ll doubtlessly be back!
One of the friendliest places I have been to in a long time. The service was great and the food was even better. I had the brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese with the chili. The food was not dry at all. I will definitely be returning soon.

Came woth the Mr on a business trip and he brought me here on a tip from a co-workwer. The food is so good, the staff super friendly, easy to order. Your food comes out on a silver tray, kinda like a cookie sheet, and just as large as one. There are 6 sauces on the community tables to try and a paper towel roll. They have fountain drinks, cans/bottles and sweet tea!! Those drinks are serve yourself. There are also small containers for your sauces for to go orders or leftovers. They also offer desserts too. Inside seating area is small but there is covered and heated space outside. Seems as if they do mostly take out. The decor is kitchy-cute but doesn't distract you too much from the food. They deliver and cater. Located in a strip mall type area with free parking. I would come back if I'm in the area again.
