Tasty barbecue..some of the best I’ve had in awhile! Their catfish is very good as well. My husband had the ribs and they are so tender. If you are not from Peoria the restaurant is located in the mall. The employees are very nice and helpful. We will be back!

After the renovation, Smo-King Pit opened the doors again, and now guests can enjoy a new look and a new interior design of this restaurant: it is very nicely appointed, has several seating areas, that are very spacious indeed, and the tables are placed quite distantly. The restaurant specializes in BBQ ribs, but the menu is vast, and has many other dishes (pulled pork, beef brisket, chicken, catfish, various sandwiches, combo meals, etc), and it also has kids menu. I ordered 1/2 lb. Rib Tips and Potato Salad. I liked the salad, that was very tasty, the ribs were OK, some of them were not as tender, as I expected. What I especially enjoyed in this restaurant was the service -- two cheerful ladies at the counter couldn't be more amiable and friendlier, they were very attentive, helpful, smiling -- just a pleasure to be serviced like this! Smo-King Pit is a highly casual place, with an informal ambiance, and it must be convenient for visitors, who shop at the Northwoods mall, to have a quick meal there. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the mall. Plan to be back, thank you!

recently ordered 2 slabs of ribs and what a disappointment. I requested baby back ribs and received large boned ribs full of fat with skin on the back. i know baby back ribs when i see them and what i paid 42.00 dollars were regular ribs. will never eat their food again. buyer beware!

The Catfish is cooked just right, the chicken wings are nicely seasoned, the ribs are nice and tender. I go almost every Sunday for my family dinner. The service is great and they make you feel at home. Just a sweet atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant. Love the food and service.

We waited for someone to come to the counter over 1/2 an hour. We yelled for anyone and still no one. There wAs no sign it was closed. Lights were on but no one ever came to the counter. Dissapointing

Terrible over cooked. Onion ring so dry and crunchy sandwich. Almost burnt dry.

I was lucky enough to stop in and try a philly chicken sandwich and it was absolutely amazing. One of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever eaten and it was at a very affordable price prepared by an extremely friendly staff. I will come back to the mall just for that sandwich.

Place has real potential! Owner is hard working, and knows how to treat people. The only downside is the location, if they had their own spot I'd give em 5 stars since the mall's food court is severely dated and tables often get sticky. Get the mad philly or the shwarma!

Was shopping in the mall and wanted a bite for lunch. Saw that this had just opened and there was a line, so figured it couldn't be too bad. Ordered a philly cheesesteak, fries, and drink. Cost about $12 and was well worth it. The steak was plentiful and well seasoned. Could have used a little more peppers, but that's just me. The fries came in a huge basket and were good and piping hot. Service was friendly and efficient and I am hoping it stays, as Peoria needs a good, quick cheesesteak place. As a side note, I saw a few people get the gyro and it looked really good too.

New steak place in the mall finally. Northwoods Mall food court is starting to look lively again. Steak Escape, Charley's Grilled Subs, and then America's Great Steak have all been at this location prior to this new arrival. What differentiates this place is the welcome addition of baklava, garlic chicken, and shawarma. Service was prompt, professional, and phenomenal. Friendly and asked questions to ensure my order was done to my liking. Mad Philly Steak was pretty good. I recommend it. Garlic chicken was ok. The contents were tasty but it needed just a little more meat which you can order for extra. Fries were hot and seasoned well. For dessert, they had ma'amoul date cookies and baklava. The maamoul was good but the baklava was even better. Just the right amount of sweet and nuttiness to finish off the meal. Great addition to the mall's food court. Worth a try.
