So we wanted something different tonight we decided to try the Taste of Jerusalem for the first time.... We ordered both beef and chicken shawarma which was quite tasty.. and actually wasn't dry I've had it from other restaurants in the past and this was a problem.. We ordered the falafels, which were one of the best ones I've had... We also ordered the Baba Ganoush that was also delicious... I wish that they had had pita chips .. because I'm a dipper.. I'm a fan of basmati rice .. although their spicy rice was way too hot for me,.. I know it would have been good. Had it not been too hot for my taste... And I prefer more of a yellow rice than just white, but everybody's place does things differently..... Overall it was a decent meal.....

The food was a 10/10! Fresh to order, quality and quantity based on cost. I have a pretty big appetite and I could not finish my plate. The spicy rice is the way to go! The lamb was super tender as well. The chicken was perfection. No fat or rubbery pieces either! Totally recommend!

Between the ambient music, the warmth of the decor, the friendliness and patience of the staff, the unwavering cleanliness, and of course the incredible quality of the food, there’s no wonder about why this is one of my favorite restaurants to visit in the area. Everything is made to order and well worth the few extra minutes it takes to get.

So, I recently swung by The Taste of Jerusalem in Plainfield, Illinois, for a quick bite, and here's the scoop!I opted for their chicken shawarma for lunch, and overall, it was a pretty satisfying experience. The dish came with a hearty serving of spicy chicken, orange rice, bread, salad, and sauce. Now, let's break it down.First off, the chicken shawarma itself was on point. Tender, flavorful, and with just the right amount of kick, it hit the spot. The orange rice complemented the dish well, adding a nice citrusy twist to the meal. The bread was fresh and fluffy, perfect for soaking up all those delicious juices. However, there was one aspect that left me slightly disappointed: the sauce. Now, don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad per se, but it was just... mayonnaise. I mean, come on, in a world of tantalizing tahini and zesty garlic sauces, plain old mayo felt a bit underwhelming. I've been to other shawarma joints where the sauce game was strong, so this was a bit of a letdown. That being said, despite the sauce situation, the overall flavors were decent, and I left feeling satisfied. The ambiance at The Taste of Jerusalem is casual and laid-back, perfect for a quick lunch stop or a casual dinner with friends. So, if you're in the area and craving some Middle Eastern flavors, The Taste of Jerusalem is worth a visit.
