Bakeries near Pontiac

“In need of sustenance we popped into Pfaff's Bakery whilst driving through Pontiac. We were immediately greeted by a friendly face behind the counter who welcomed us, told us the story behind the bakery and allowed us time to peruse the wonderful array of cakes behind the counter. Armed with four Pontiac Danish pastries, two filled with apricot and two with blueberry jam, plus two cups of self poured coffee from a flask on the counter we sat down at one of the tables and started chatting to the gentleman at the next table. He was a local and equally as friendly, enquiring as to our journey thus far and where we are heading next. The pastries were beyond good and while we were there a steady stream of locals came in to buy pastries and cakes for parties and birthdays. We could not resist leaving with some cookies, a couple of turnovers (recommended by the young man behind the counter) and a chocolate cake in the shape of a large walnut whip.“

“I came here for breakfast, as I heard rumors about 1 lb. cinnamon rolls. I can confirm that the rumors are true, and I suspect that Lost in Time offers one of the better breakfasts around small-town Central Illinois. What you can expect: -meals served on antique china -homemade breakfasts and lunches -grab and go meals and sweets, including cinnamon rolls big and small -friendly servers My dining companion was a big fan of her omelet and home fries, especially the not-so-overwhelming portion size. I enjoyed my cinnamon roll and hash browns. My small critique is that the cinnamon rolls aren't served warm. I asked my server to heat mine up, and while she did, it really didn't impact the roll--only some frosting. If I was to return, I would order one to go and reheat it at home...and would I return? Yes, and I already know I want to try to baked oatmeal.“
