We had our work happy hour here. I called in advance to reserve a table and told them what company I work for. When we came in, we were greeted with a cute welcome sign including our company logo and a table set up with water carafes and menus. The servers were so friendly and patient with us which is ironic because the woman’s name is Patience. We all ordered difficult drinks (that were on special) and they brought them out quickly with lovely touches such as the sphere ice cubes and garnishes. The hospitality was amazing considering the size of our party and the manager even texted me the next day thanking us for coming and said they enjoyed having us. I would recommend Salt to everyone; the appetizers and drinks were amazing and service was incredible. This is our 2nd happy hour here and there is a reason we came back and will be back again.

Stopped in to get a smash burger. Saw the menu was different and the place had changed owners. They still had the smash burger so i opted for that and this corn appetizer (I forget the name) they said was really good. I didn't care for the corn appetizer. I get my burger and i was confused. it was just a normal thick burger patty. no way was this a "smash" burger.....it wasn't smashed. Looked like a piece of meat that retained it's frozen meat patty look. I ate it. it was ok. Tasted like a typical diner burger and not a bar burger. Definitely not a smash burger. You would think they would know the difference but oh well. Service was great and the bartenders were very nice and quick with the refills. Will give some time to work the kinks out and try it again.

We celebrated my mother's 90th birthday party at Salt. We had an amazing time and the food and the service were excellent! The staff did a fantastic job. We were a party of 11 and every one of us loved our meal! Thank you for making our day special for our Mom's 90th birthday party!

This place deserves to be busy every day of the week! I've been stuck in town (Rochelle IL) for over 5 days and I've have most of the non-franchised restaurants in town. This blows every other place on the map out the water with a double barrel shot gun.SALT 251 is hands down the cleanest place, the classiest decor, the nicest staff and best deal for your buck.Me and my partner walked here from the Comfort Inn in 0°F weather, in snow (there is no Uber or shuttle) to come back here before we left because we were so impressed. That's a 2 mile walk.ALMOST all the dishes are hand made, from hand dipped chicken sandwiches to slow cooked cornedbeef brisket for the Ruben. You can tell who ever the head cook (more like chef) really cares for the food they make. They use good and fresh quality ingredients for everything we had. All for a really good price for the amount and quality you get.Drinks are at a really good price, beer on tap comes with a cold glass for $2.50(some seasonal sales)-$5 (High AP ) and the bartender we had knew a lot about the types he was serving. He made my partner a white Russian and I drank a variety of seasonal beers. The decor is very nice; modern retro with clean lines and a dark interior with purple lighting that shows off the huge black stone bar that host most of the seating in the restaurant/bar. Every table is set with glass, no plastic to be seen. Both times I've been here smooth jazz is playing. This is a very nice place for a up scale first date, buissness meeting or relaxed meal. Pictures will not make justice for the effort that was put into the place.Bartenders/staff really cares as well, offered to take us back to the hotel. There isn't much going on in here so don't expect a riot when walking in but it was a very nice casual bar with lot of character developed from the people who work here.Vegetarian options: Really big salads, my partner had one the first time we came and was to bog for her to finish. Also, some fried items are also avaliable.

Oct 2023. New owners took over in the spring. Limited menu. Was better before new owners took over. The cook, Johnnie, is no longer there. Disappointing. Food OK. Took way too long for food to arrive. We were about to walk out.Wheelchair accessibility: No

Had the waffle brisket sandwich and it was great. The waffles were sweet enough to balance the saltiness of the brisket. Highly recommend it.

The food was excellent but was not told that after we left they would add a gratuity to our bank card...especially after we left more than 15% cash to the waitress. Sorry, but we will not return...it's a shame too. (Customer should be informed of your automatic gratuity...this is Rochelle and old servers leave cash)

Lord, where to start.... The reviews were mixed at best, but we haven't been here in a while so we figured we'd give it another chance. Walking in and seeing new trim around the windows - okay, good sign. Also seeing a paint can on a table....? Okay, not a good sign. We decided to try this place again because we saw a sizzling steak on their roadside reader board as we drove back into town from the south. The last few times we went here, it was sandwiches only, so maybe the new owners were moving to the next level? Inside, you see a sign Salt 7. The bill reads C.C.S. Golf LLC. The menu - Salt 251. Confused yet? We ordered their Lobster Dip Appetizer. The photo only shows half of it. My wife said "I couldn't find any Lobster in it." Neither could I. It was tasty, but if you say Lobster Dip, shouldn't you find some Lobster in it? From there, we waited. And waited. And waited. And finally, the waitress / bartender who was working the restaurant by herself (while the two owners were doing something else) stopped by and took our drink and entrée orders. For drinks, I ordered a Manhattan, and my wife ordered a Gin Martini. The combination waitress / bartender admitted she had to look that one up. Both drinks were okay, I've had better Manhattans. For entrees, my wife ordered their Grilled Shrimp Scampi and I had their 8 ounce Garlic Sirloin. This took a fair amount of time, around 20 minutes to plate. Both dishes came with a nice, fresh salad, with dressing in a small cup on the side. Given the size of the salad, they needed to provide more dressing. I was scraping the rest of it out of the small plastic serving cup. On to the entrees: Shrimp Scampi That's a pretty regular dish - grilled shrimp sautéed in butter, garlic and white wine and served in that sauce. The grilled shrimp was there with some seasoning, but the rest which makes it Scampi wasn't there. Plus, the fresh vegetables were in a teriyaki sauce, which was sweet and of course didn't blend well with the Shrimp and it's seasoning. It came with a baked potato that my wife said "It must have had a bad spot - a chunk was missing. Whaaaaatttt? Never had that in all the baked potatoes we have had. Not a good first. I was there for the steak, so I ordered their 8 ounce garlic sirloin, medium rare. That should be a warm, red center. I could see the garlic on the sirloin - but the steak was well-done. Gray, hot, chewy (chewy chewy), and I had to use steak sauce to make it palatable. Now two people who we think were the owners come by (they didn't introduce themselves) and ask is everything okay, of course we do what everyone does, we fib - yes, everything's fine. They apparently don't watch Bar Rescue - their combination bartender / waitress could have used some help serving or covering the bar, but nope, she didn't get any help. She didn't complain, she just did her best. I did order their Tuxedo Bomb Dessert, which was actually pretty good. A slice of chocolate cake, covered with chocolate mousse, covered with vanilla mousse, with a chocolate coating drizzled in vanilla icing with some whipped cream. It was the best part of the dinner. Of course, I failed to get a picture of that. Argh.
