Very disappointed with this place. I came here with my family and at first there was no one to welcome us. The place was literally completely empty (and now I understand why). I went up to ring the bell and when I was ready a lady came out and I thought she would answer us, right? She never greeted us or asked if we needed help. My husband played machines for a minute while she decided to lower herself to our level and do her job, but it never happened. We stood there for 5 minutes waiting in pure discomfort. She never spoke. I was so angry that I told my husband and even my children to get ready and that we were leaving. Even then she STILL didn't say anything. When we left, I said thank you for your service. Nothing yet. Ridiculous. I can't believe someone could have such BAD service and still be open. I wanted to eat here so badly and it was a super bad experience. I went to Nuevo Vallarta in Cherry Valley and wow! What a difference! Don't waste your time here.So very disappointed with this place. Once he got there he is literally just staring at us, not even offering if we needed anything, just completely ignoring us. If only I could give this place zero stars.

We drive an hour here for the bakery and the adjoining restaurant as often as we can. And it is so worth it. There must be an old loving abuela in that kitchen because the food is GOOD. The cicina, pastor, chilaquiles verde have all been *chefs kiss*. Really enjoy this place. Highly recommend.Edit: the roasted salsa they served with the chips was SO refreshing and light and delicious.

7/26/23The food was good! I don’t think they give enough salsa like other Mexican restaurants I love but it was good. It didn’t have a strong cilantro taste. The chips weren’t warm/hot as I’m use to so I assume the didn’t make them and just came from a bag. The missing star is really for the location. I can only imagine what the weekends are like but everything else was good.
Delicious food, sweet servers, fantastic prices! Certainly not fancy, but legit food!

Fantastic authentic Mexican food. We had steak tacos and burritos. Meat was great, with great flavor and texture. Anytime I try a new Mexican joint, tacos and burritos are my go-to meals to see how they rate against the competition. El Pueblo is some of the best in Rockford. Great service as well which is becoming almost impossible to find anymore. My first time there but will absolutely not be my last. Can't wait to get back there and try something new.
