I don't know what happened to this place, but the last few times I have picked up food here, it has been terrible! This used to be one of our favorite Indian restaurants in the area, though not the best. Maybe because they are the only Indian food in the area they don't feel the need to deliver quality anymore? Because they are close to my office, I have ordered dinner for take out a few times. The last time it was bad, but I thought I would give them another chance in case they were just having an off day. Today, the samosas were burnt to a crisp. Even the the potatoes inside were shrunken up crusty chunks because they were so burned. They should have been thrown in the garbage. Yet, this restaurant chose to charge money for them and serve them to people anyway. The vegetable jalfrajee had only the cheapest vegetables in it--peas and carrots! There was paneer in it, which can be nice, but this paneer was so overcooked, it was spongey and hard at the same time. I ordered it extra spicy and it was mild to medium at the most. The garlic naan was so thick and chewy, it was like eating a loaf of chewy French bread, but with no flavor. My husband ordered the chicken tikka masala, and said it was bad too-- just like the last time I brought home food from Maharaja. The prices have gone up (like everywhere else), but the quality has plummeted. SO DISAPPOINTING! It's too bad there's no other good Indian food around, unless you go to Devon or Niles!

I was urged by a couple of my friends to try Indian Cuisine. Coincidentally, Maharaja was quite near to the hotel we were staying at, thus giving me an opportunity to taste Indian food for the first time. The waiters and the staff were extremely nice and receptive, helping us navigate the menu and giving us order suggestions. We ordered Chicken Biryani, Garlic Naan, Paneer, Butter Chicken, and Mango Lassi. The Mango Lassi was incredibly nice and I couldn't help myself from finishing it before the main course dishes arrived. It was sweet and milky, but still with a distinct mango flavor. The Chicken Biryani was decently spiced, but nonetheless also tasted quite good. My favorite, however, was the Butter Chicken which I consumed with the Garlic Naan. I would completely recommend any Rosemont visitors who are seeking Indian Cuisine to visit Maharaja, as their food is fantastic!

What a wonderful gem we have found on our recent trip to Chicago. The food was spectacular, the service was great. I would recommend maharaja to anyone looking for an Indian feast!

Just had another excellent meal at Maharaja. Used to come here for the lunch buffet and it was always delightful. Tonight I was craving Indian and this is conveniently close to my new house, so we decided to try it again. The samosas weren’t the best I’ve ever had but our entrées were delicious and plentiful. We were the only group dining in. We got what we needed but the staff didn’t hover. One of the few places we’ve found that appropriately spices food when we ask for it hot! Eat here!

Stopped in before a Wolves hockey game. It was excellent and reasonably priced. Shrimp Masala as my favorite but my husband liked his bhuna gosht.

Don’t be misled by the unassuming exterior of this restaurant. We almost couldn’t tell it was open, as the entry is a bit dark. Undaunted, we strolled in to find that the staff was friendly and the food was delicious. My friend enjoyed his palak paneer, and I loved my dal makhani. The aloo paratha was marvelous - just the right amount of heat and cilantro. The chai took a while to arrive but was very much worth the wait.

This place is a HIDDEN GEM! I’ve honestly gotten so tired of the same old Punjabi food taste in the northwest suburbs of Chicago but Maharaja is AMAZING! I love how their food has its own unique flavor, it’s tasty, and spicy! Oh and samosas are fire!! (I have to admit they did need to refry mine because they were a little frozen but after they brought it back, the taste is something else) They are so delicious! If you’re looking for a change in taste- definitely try this place out.
