We ordered a 20 inch sausage pizza ,Saturday March 30th. The order was ready on time and hot out of the oven. However when we got home and opened the box we were disappointed in the amount of sausage that was on the pizza. Approximately half of the slices had nothing but cheese. Genes was always a great pizza, it's a shame the cost of ingredients has come to this.

I used to eat there weekly but not anymore. Ever since Covid, it's not the same eating there. The food is not as good and the portions seem smaller. The prices are really high now too. The waitress is excellent. Very good service, that's about the only thing that is great there. No salad bar either. It's almost like they don't care anymore.

Looking for local restaurants in Sandwich ILL and called to find out what soups were on the menu? Called 2 phone numbers and it says closed on Mondays, OK. Today is Wednesday no answer so I call the other number no answer. Finally an awful sounding message says it only opens on Thursday, Friday and possibly Saturday. You should definitely update your messages and menu’s for new future customers like me. We moved here 3 years ago and still trying to find special places locally. My wife and I went into Gene's in Sandwich to try the pizza there.They hand a special $7.49 for a 12 inch with one item .great price!So we each like our pizza differently. So she order a 12 inch with sauage, I ordered 12 inch with pepperoni and asked for extra sauce.I figure maybe a $1 extra charge for the sauce.The server didn't advise of any extra cost when I requested extra Sause.SoooI get the bill and it seemed a little bit too much .So the 1st pizza with sausage was $7.49The one with extra Sause was$12.49 and another charge of $3.50So I asked what was it for?She tried to explain to me and it didn't make any sense to me.so the owner came to explain it.He said " because I wanted extra sauce it was a extra item "so I had to pay the regular price for a 12 inch which is $12.49 and $3.50For extra sauce.So he upped the cost $3 for extra item the sauce , I think at this point I paid for the extra sauce at $12.49But Noooo ! He charged me another$3.50 for the extra sauce making my $7.49 pizza costing me $16 . So my extra sauce cost me $7And my pizza went from $7.49 ,to $15.99.The owner was very Offensive and said I'm losing money on these specials... Well not my problem!!!HUMMM , SO JUST TOTALLY HUMILIATE ME LIKE I'M STUPID !!TELL ME. Am I wrong for questioning this ?I wasn't going to get into it to far with him. So I paid the full billI am not a genius but I paid almost as much for extra sauce as I paid for my wife's pizza.$7.49 for her pizza and $7 for just extra sauce.Can anybody. Make sense of this??.There is no doubt the Quality of the food in restaurants has declined, the prices are way out of control and finding good help has become a task that seems to be a long shot. But customers are the most important thing to any business.And I was the customer not the excuse he isn't making money on his specials.Its tough in any business these days but Really, do you treat customers with such classlessWays of acts of influence in hopes they will return ?

Went to the Sandwich fair with a family member and after he told me about this spot and their Beef Rolls. Definitely did not disappoint really good and reccomend to everyone. Staff is very friendly place is clean also. ?

My husband and I ate at this restaurant last night. Very disappointed. I ordered a chopped steak with grilled onions. The "chopped steak " was an obvious processed patty that was obviously cooked from frozen. It has a freezer burn taste. My husband had a fish sandwich which was also obviously a processed perfectly square piece of breaded fish.We would have had better food at a fast food joint for a lot less money.The restaurant has a dark and dreary atmosphere. The waitress asked us if we needed a flashlight to read the menu.My advice, skip Gene's and walk down the block to Bull Moose . The food there is 100% better!
