My daughter and I enjoyed a really yummy gluten free authentic German meal here tonight. Can't wait to go back!

The food and service was very good. I have leftovers enough for 2 meals. The tomato cucumber salad, with beets and 3 bean salad was refreshing, especially on a cold January day.

Lovely place, nice feel, great traditonal music, and the food is just perfect, just the way my oma would make. Love this place.

Amazing family owned German restaurant. It's also the only one I know of that offers a huge gluten free menu, from strudel to desserts. We make out way here from the city as often as we can.

This family run restaurant takes the utmost GF care. They "understand" and are cross contamination watch dogs!! My non GF family tried my GF options and gave both their non GF and the GF options all full approval!! It's been a lonnnng time since I walked away more than full from a meal out with family. I had potato pancakes for an appetizer and even GF apple strudel for dessert. A+++++++ If you haven't been there, you should move it to the top of your list!! Plus it's the perfect time of year for the comfort of German Food !!

My husband and I tried this place on new years eve and we were the only people in it. For being in a strip mall it wasn't all bad. They had the windows covered up with paper so you couldn't make sure if they were open. The only bad thing about this place is that they had too much vinegar in my sauerbraten and my husband's sauerkraut. It all tasted good just couldn't get rid of the vinegary taste out of mouth.

Ordered the Christmas cookies. The presentation was great and the cookies were delicious. They were all gone by the evening on Christmas. Gingerbread men were the best.

Was almost driven away by the bad reviews but I was instead left very confused about all the 1 stars. People don't seem to understand good german food and realize how hard it must have been on this restaurant during Covid. I came Saturday night and there were only 2 other couples there. The reviews warned me of unfriendly staff but the staff was incredibly sweet if you had the decency to be polite to them. Food was extraordinary. Everything ordered was warm fresh homemade german food and tasted delicious. Prices were expensive but i later decided that the food was worth every cent. It was a 30 minute drive to try this place and I will be returning.

The owner is from Germany, and you can tell, she can cook. She is a little grouchy, but some Germans are like that, so don't be offended. The food is outstanding.I definitely will come back if I am in the area

An absolutely horrifying experience here! I came in with my boyfriend and a friend for dinner on Saturday evening. Like many other restaurants, short staffed and overwhelmed. The server sat us and mentioned that because of the number of tables, it might take a bit longer for her to get our order. OK! We understand. No problem. My boyfriend and my friend both ordered the Oktoberfest beer. The server didn't say anything to my boyfriend but she proceeded to ask for two forms of identification from my friend and his beer order. Now, my friend has some learning disabilities and sometimes it either takes him a long time to decide on something basic (like what to drink) or it takes one or two additional explanations before it finally clicks in his head. After being very confused and feeling targeted about the whole situation, he was about to hand her his debit card and our server just snapped and went absolutely ballistic on us. Screaming, yelling obscenities, you name it. She ended up refusing to serve us and literally threw us out of the restaurant. It was quite an embarrassing scene and it wasn't because of us. We were taken back by this but we wanted to eat and we were trying to just get this server to calm down. Had we stayed, three entrees, drinks, and an appetizer could have easily totaled $80-100 and a 20% tip. That would have been a nice amount of business and a tip in the server's pocket. I was more than happy to leave for multiple reasons. 1.) Zero amount of COVID protocol is followed here. 2.) Based on the mental breakdown, I wouldn't trust the food here or the cleanliness practices. And 3.) The screaming and the language was uncalled for on SO many levels. I would never return here and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone for any reason. This old lady server needs to be fired immediately! She has no place in a service position. *Sidenote - We learned that the village of Schaumburg used to have some problems back in the early 1990s with underage folks being served alcohol. The village board passed an ordinance in 1992 stating that double ID is required for alcohol purchases. While it sounds like it was mostly a problem in grocery and liquor stores, 99.99% of restaurants do not follow this very outdated and irrelevant ordinance. No restaurant should assume your customers know about every weird little ordinance in your town.

Craving perfect German food? Head over to Bavaria Hof to indulge in all your favorite German dishes. I was craving Wiener Schnitzel and spatzle - wow - I've never had it better here in the States. The shnitzel was just the right kind of thin, it was lightly breaded and pan-fried just enough to cook the meat and give the breading a light-brown patina. Added a squeeze of fresh lemon and went to heaven. The spatzle was also a best-ever experience - obviously prepared from scratch, cooked well but not rubbery, beautifully seasoned gravy - as good as it gets. The salad plate of cukes, toms, beets and green beans was a delicious medley of healthy delights. The service was humble, yet spot on - attentive without being intrusive. Having lived in southern Germany for a time, I can finally say I've found a place that serves up the old-school German food I can't help but love.
