This is for Clint L. We've been going to Hong Kong Café since 1997 (25 years ago) which was when they first open. Although the service has rooms for improvement, the comfort food is phenomenal and comes out really fast. That being said, the original owners Elaine and Andy went above and beyond the call of duty. Elaine would chat with the customers. She remembers what they order. Andy would deliver the food to Margarita next door even though they don't have delivery service. They would have tables outside for the inside was up to capacity. When Lydia and her sister took over, they survived the pandemic. Their competitor Wonton Gourmet placed a surcharge, raised the price, and gave out 1/3 less food. ToPho in Schaumburg was closed for 3 months at the beginning of the pandemic. Once open they served old meat and produce. Their closest competitor MingHin raised the prices 6 % across the board yesterday. Salt went up 150 %. We witnessed Lydia went from being a hostess, being a server, answering the phone, being a cashier while her partner/sister just sat there. She failed to hire help for Lydia after multiple requests to get help. The only thing that Lydia doesn't do is cook. The cooks wanted a raise and close on Tuesday. Cut her some slack Clint L.. Lydia is doing the best she could under these difficult circumstances with no help from her sister. She sink every dime she had to take over this restaurant. She didn't come from money and her husband has a separate account. Now that the lease is up, she didn't even sell the restaurant to recuperate some of the money she spent in buying the place.

Wanted to have a recent review especially for Clint L. The business is closing in May. Using paper plates as going from Covid to pre-closing, it's possible that most of the nicer plates have been packed up. Doesn't really matter at the end of the day when the food on that paper plate happens to be incredibly delicious and filling. If you've been regular in visitations, you would have known/would have been more understanding to their situation. My family went here during a pivotal point in our lives, so I do harbor stronger feelings towards this place and will miss it dearly when it's gone. With that being said, to think that you just walked out... Clint, you've certainly earned your L. We will miss you Hong Kong Cafe! Thank you for feeding and providing us with a safe space :)

Food's alright, staff is rude and confrontational, I won't miss them when they close their doors. No, I wasn't part of a group of 12; it was just my 2 friends and I. We ordered soup and an entree, server brought out one of the soups, when we asked about the others, she snapped back and said, you should've ordered it then. After reading others reviews, that seems to be the constant factor here, rude service...but this is a mute point, you're closing permanently in a couple of weeks anyway.

The lady working there tried to charge me $8.75 for a milk tea that is $3.25 totally tried to rip me off thinking I was d*** or something. I told her that it says on the menu its $3.25 and that’s what she charged me and she tried to laugh and play it off like nothing even happened. This is what you get when you’re too nice and respectful they think they can take advantage of you be aware a lot of restaurant workers they try to pull a fast one and charge you a higher price.

Today, 03/26/2022 my wife and I went there for lunch. Before entering into restaurant, we saw a sign posted on the door that said foods and drinks will be on paper plates. When we got in there and sat down, I asked waitress also owner too why you use paper plates and her response was that la why we do. Then I asked for for how long and she said that "you don't need to know"; kind of rude saying to customers. After that, we walked out. This is not the first time we went there. We've been there so many years before pandemic happened.

Great meals, very authentic. Not gorgeous inside but very hard working employees. Take out is a good option.

How have we not found this place before?! Fried stuffed egg plant was wonderful. Shredded pork chow fun came on a bed of fried rice noodles. It was perfect. Egg rolls were good too. Service was exemplary. We definitely will be back.

My favorite place for Chinese takeout. Everything we order is delicious but I especially love the scallion pancake and the spicy salted pork. The owner is also extremely friendly and caring. I placed an order through a delivery app and did not get half of our food. I called the restaurant to verify it was all picked up. The owner then contacted the delivery app for me who got a hold of our driver and had them come back with the rest of our food. The owner then called me back to make sure the rest of my order arrived.

Great place wonderful service. Food is top notch. Travel 35 plus mins to pick up or dine in when available. Lunch specials are always a most if time of day works for you.

Our go to Chinese restaurant out here in the Northwest Suburbs. Egg roles remind a little bit of Peking House who had the best ones ever

I must admit that my expectations were fairly high after seeing the other reviews but the food here is just not good at all. I grew up in Hongkong and just felt that the food was very bland and did not reflect the depth and flavour in authentic Cantonese food. Would not recommend.

We tried to get dim sum at Minghin but too long of a wait. We came here instead and were immediately seated for the 4 of us. The waitress was very direct and asked if we were ready to order, needless to say she's not the most courteous of waitresses. The food came out pretty fast. They used paper plates for some reason so it looked pretty cheap. We got fish with Chinese broccoli, shrimp with egg, salt and pepper pork, beef chow fun. My least favorite was the beef chow fun but every other dish was tasty. I also liked my pina colada bubble drink. Price wasn't bad for the food and the portions plus the bubble drinks. It was a good choice without any wait.

So I ordered from DoorDash and let me tell you they up their food prices on there. $18 for Mongolian beef crazy right? Well you would think you get a decent portion but you don’t. It was literally all onions and maybe 8 pieces of beef. The beef was really good though. And the potstickers were amazing. Maybe I’ll stop in sometime instead of ordering on the app.

Food was delicious and will be going here again, just not through Uber Eats.
