Food lived up to the expectations set by friends of ours. It was SO good! Recommended the sausage deep dish, and yes, get the butter crust! Aperol Spritz was delightful as well. We will be sure to come back whenever we get back to IL.

I grew up eating Lou’s. Never had another deep dish. And I’ll never get tired of it. They can get busy especially on the weekends but you can order your pizza ahead while you wait. It’s best to reserve if you can. My favorites (besides the classic) are their Buffalo wings, calamari, pasta, and can’t forget the cookie skillet. Always had a great experience.

I asked for a quiet table away from the crowds. The hostess sat me upstairs across from a table of 14 screaming women who appeared to be celebrating a wedding shower or something. The other part of the upstairs dining area had only three or four tables filled with either couples or a party of four - all of whom were quietly dining (I hadn’t bothered to look before I ordered). Since I had already ordered I felt it wasn’t right to move. I figured I’d just bear through it. Right after ordering the hostess brings up another party of a married couple with two very young children - and proceeds to seat them in the next booth from us even though others were open. Sure enough the older of the two (still very young) starts to scream and cry for what seemed like an eternity. Between the kid and the table of women I felt like I was in some sort of maniac ward. My wife and I looked at each other and I thought “it’s almost as though the hostess did the exact OPPOSITE of what I’d requested”. All she had to do when we got there was seat us on the other side of the room where there was clearly no circus or screaming going on. I’ll take the blame for not wanting to annoy our server who’d already started helping us. The saving grace was the food. As always I can count on Lou’s for a tasty, tasty meal. And the table service was top notch.
