I love Golden Oak! I ordered a waffle combo with strawberries and whipped cream. It was so delicious! They have great coffee too. Sometimes there is a wait on the weekends, but it is worth it!

Great location, good parking lot, good for handicaped guests, food is good, prices are high, portions are small for the price, service is marginal, environment is interesting. It is one big room and can get noisy if it's busy. The wait staff is terrible for the prices they are charging. Management obviously does not encourage staff to care about what they are doing.

This place is great for breakfast. The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. She made sure we had everything we needed and kept our coffee cups full. I'll definitely come back again.

Horribly disappointed today. We left. We liked this place. But today was horrid.Never got a menu.Never got coffee or water.Never got recognition of we busy, but will get to you.A waitress cleaned an already clean table next to us and didn't ask us anything.It was like we were invisible.The biggest disappointment was the Male host. Useless. He stood around doing nothing. Just standing one table away at his podium. He could of helped out. They had minimal business.Huge huge disappointment.We won't be back for a long time.When we left I said sorry, but nobody came, so we are leaving. He just said; yep.Just horribly disappointment today.

This little gem is by far the best breakfast you can get in Southern Illinois. It's the only place my 5 and 2 year old will eat consistently and I don't order kids stuff. They are eating 5 or 6 veggies in their meals from here and that is just beautiful. After years of being loyal to places like The Egg and I and First Watch, this little place does what they do, except better tasting, actual seasonings on the food and dang near half the price. From price, to friendliness, to taste, this is my go to Breakfast place.
