Might update my review after sending info over through website.Stopped by Tuesday, March 26th around 3:30PM. Customer service wasn’t the best, but the lady working lied about putting sauce in the bag when we had to drive back to grab it. Soda had no taste, obviously hasn’t been changed out or anything in awhile. Brisket was so dry and overcooked. Cole slaw taste like dirty water. Nothing was fresh. Very disappointed because my boyfriend and I really wanted to like this place. No idea how they have such good reviews. The only edible food that we got was the cornbread. Spent over $60 and tipped, very upset.

That Guy Smoky
Went inside no atmosphere. Some bull horns on the wall& thats it. Was told cant order at the bar have to walk through and order? Asked whats the freshest out the smoker. Was told Chopped Brisket. Went got gas came through drive thrugot 1/2 # Pulled pork hot sauce on side. Could hear the lady say. Thats the weird guy that just came in. Would been nice to get a fork and napkin. Not the hot sauce i remember maybe someone portioned it wrong. The chopped pork had no flavor no smoke no bark.Noticed even aemployee had Portillos delivered and was consuming in the kitchen. This place holds lots of good times in the past.

The food overall is decent as far as the barbecue category goes. Most of the staff are in the back working the kitchen. We ordered up front and then waited to pick up our food at the counter as the restaurant is cafeteria style. The bar tender stopped in on and off to check on our drinks. The portions are huge which makes up for the rest!

Ambience/vibe: Decor was uninteresting. Noticed dusk on light fixtures above tables.I think low music being played would be nice.Customer Service: One of the woman taking orders was very friendly...smiling etc. The other very dry attitude.Food: The only good thing I cab say about the food was it came out quick.Smoked Brisket-•Cold•Dry•No smoke flavor•Bland•very tender.Pulled Pork-•ColdRanch Beans (BBQ beans)-•Extremely unpleasant.•Canned hot dog chilli sauce without the meat.•Cheese in it?•No BBQ flavor.Mac & Cheese: Respectfully, if I wanted processed cheese and overcooked pasta I'd rather had boxed kraft. No flavor.Mild BBQ Sauce:Decent- nothing specialCornbread:•Pretty moist•Decent (if you like sweet Cornbread)

Overpriced bbq plates. Not a good value. $40 for 2 plates no drinks no extras. Should have stopped my order right then.
Mac n cheese was overcooked and just dissolved in your mouth. It was completely inedible.
The sliced brisket wasn't even completely sliced which made eating it with plastic utensils a pain in the butt.
I'm done with Hickory River. Never again.

Parking: The parking lot is a bit tight, but, generally speaking, you will always find a place to park. There's also overflow parking which is very nice during the lunch time hour

Got 5 pounds of pulled pork takeout and having sandwiches the meat was dry and the barbecue sauce had absolutely no flavor. I’m very disappointed because always before I’ve had good luck at Hickory Rivers, but I’m not really sure if I would try it again. I just feel like I wasted $85 on 5 pounds of pork. Because when the dinner was over with I still had about 3 1/2 pounds left after 18 people ate ,so not too many people ate much.

We went there on a sat noon. Parking lot completely empty, so we should have known better.Food was OK-ish but the brisket was dry. Pulled pork was fine. Not too bad but the kicker was that the portion size was really small. Especially for a 3-meat combo which is supposed to be one of their bigger meals. Apparently only as far as the price is concerned.Service was non existent. The silverware holders were out of forks and after trying unsuccessfully to catch someone’s attention I had to reach into the staff area and angle a fork myself. Also no ketchup was anywhere to be found nor offered. After an expensive and not very satisfying meal we left hungry.
