Yu's in Schaumburg used to be good. They opened in Vernon Hills and it was not great. The newest, in Buffalo Grove, was just horrible. Food quality and tastefullness was sorely lacking.

Hosted a lunch on a Monday afternoon for about 32 people in their separated banquet room. It consisted of 2 long tables, fitting 16 people each. They do have banquet menus where you pay per head, but it ended up easier to order a la carte and serving everything family style. Their egg flower soup (is really good, chock full of tofu, egg, vegetables, and even a bit of baby shrimp) costing $3.95. Stir fried string beans ($13.50) and Seafood double pan fried noodle ($14.95) had the very thin chow mein that my MIL and SIL really like...not all chinese restaurants serve this type of noodle and because it was served fresh, you can mix the noodle and sauce at your own levels to get the level of crunchiness that you want. Mongolian beef ($17.95) was used decent quality beef and had plenty of sliced yellow and green onions. Rainbow fried rice minus shrimp ($11.95) was well mixed and very dark (a lot of soy sauce used) and served as a good base for a lot of the dishes. Three ingredient taster ($17.50) was like a happy family dish with shrimp, beef, and chicken stir fried in a light sauce. Kung pao fish ($17.50) was good...this is the dish I ate the most of...the same sauce as the chicken dish, but I enjoyed it very much with the white fish. Shrimp toast ($9.50) was a hit with the crowd... I thought it was very greasy (deep fried bread...what do you expect), but it had plenty of shrimp paste and a lot of people loved it. Chicken wings ($15.95) was a bit of a miss for me...the wings were small and had been cooked so long that it was too dry. Pot stickers ($7.95) were what you would expect from a non dim-sum restaurant...mediocre. Shu mai stuffed with crab meat ($7.5) was OK...couldn't really taste the crab. They had Tsingtao large bottles ($9), the light lager went great with the food. Fountain drinks are $2.50. White rice and hot tea was complementary with our meals. Pretty much everyone in the group know good Americanized Chinese food, and everyone agreed the food was good. 20% surcharge was added to the bill, and each item ordered was clearly marked. It ended up being about $25 per person after tip and tax, which we thought was very appropriate for the level of service and amount of food that was given.

Got the lunch the special orange chicken was filled with rough meat and tendons. The only good thing they had was the rice they wouldn't substitute the pork egg rolls(I don't eat pork) which is fine but the main entree was low quality. Not worth the price for the quality and quantity honestly I've had better orange chicken from Panda Express atmosphere seem great. Employees were fine though

This used to be our go-to spot for retro Chinese comfort food, but the quality seems to have gone downhill. Maybe it was just an "off" night, but we were consistently disappointed by the Mandarin Dinner for 2. The egg rolls were tasteless and super greasy, crab rangoon was 95% cream cheese, and chicken/beef sticks were just ok. Mongolian Beef was good flavor-wise but way too salty. Kung Pao Chicken was mediocre. On a positive note, our waiter was amazing, very attentive and friendly. The new automated serving "robots" are also a cute touch.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. Probably the worst meal ever. They deserve 000000 stars. I was there for lunch with a group of approximately 20 ladies. The group coordinator called several times to confirm they had a lunch menu and gave separate checks. Upon arrival we were told due to Chinese New Year they had no lunch menu and could not do separate checks this was after 3 separate calls by our coordinator. A manager was asked for and we were told there was no manager on duty. (I come from a restaurant family and find this highly suspicious.). They eventually agreed to giving us separate checks after we threatened to leave and find another restaurant in the area. Let's get to the food. My friend and I decided to share some appetizers, where do I start. 1. Steamed Pot Stickers. Absolutely no flavor, even the sauce tasted like watered down soy sauce. 2. Appetizer Sampler we shared, consisting of: A. Crab Rangoon. Tasteless B. Egg Rolls, basically raw cabbage deep friend, the outer skins were at least crispy C. Shrimp Toast, palatable, probably the best thing I ate. D. Chicken Sticks, extremely salty E. Beef Sticks, also extremely salty. The total bill for the 2 of us was $30 and change, but not worth it. The best part of the meal chatting with the group of ladies I was with.

I love Yu’s wheeling and has been been to this place a 2nd time, the non dim sum item is good. We found that they had dim sum menu, gave it a try. It turned out to be that it cannot compete with those frozen dim sum items from Trade Joe. Come on Davis the owner, do it right, Bro

Vernon Hills location- When I entered a polite person was attending me when the manager or the owner of the place yelled "NO!!! IT'S RESERVED!!" in a rude way to the boss boy. It was very rude when he was only trying to attend us and welcome us for coming. The server that took my order was so rude since the beginning and had this look on his face like he didn't want to be there. The server was named SINDY S. When I ordered a smoothie he responded in a rude way saying they couldn't make it because it was busy, not even apologizing. I ordered an appetizer sample platter but everything on it was terrible. The egg rolls tasted like water, and the beef was salty. The beef lo mein and orange beef I ordered was HORRIBLE and FOOD WAS COLD. The Mongolian beef was the only good thing I ordered. We had ordered fried rice, but it never came when the rest of the food came. The server didn't even check on us once to see if we needed anything else so we weren't able to ask for it. When I was paying I noticed the fried rice was being charged even though we never got it. I told the other server and he removed it when I said what happened. The total ended up being $78.69 for this ridiculous, flavorless food. The only one person that saved the day in this restaurant was the boss boy"ARTURO " the person that the manager yelled at when I entered the restaurant. The person who yelled at him knows that Arturo has a great way of doing his job and excellent customer service. He was amazing and shouldn't be treated this way when he was doing a great job.Thank you ARTURO you went above and beyond!!!!!

There is an exception to my review. We went as a group of 20 on what we were told was Chinese new year. The 3 phone calls to reserve the tables and the luncheon menu were void of the new year special menu - it was no lunch menu. There were no accommodations made for our group upon arrival. No manager to be found. Servers and robots. Our group had a lovely time, but the disappointment was there. We all looked at the website and nothing was mentioned there. No sign on the door. The service was good. The kitchen was quite busy yet the food was hot.
