My favorite spot to eat in Villa Park and neighboring towns. I drive by 4 other Mexican restaurants to eat here.

The Tampiqueña dish is a must try ! They’re a small family owned business, the picture speaks for it self, highly recommend.

Once arrived police were outside. Once I left a guy In a black hood tried to pop out on side and possibly try to rob or car jack us. We spotted him first he got scared but was contemplating on coming up to our vehicle several times. I made it known I was watching him too and immediately got out of there. I watched him stalk people inside so I pray nothing happened that night to no one inside.Well about restruant I first got there the waitress seemed real mad. I just kept being nice and saying thank you for everything. Hoping to break her attitude. It actually did somewhat. Maybe she was overwhelmed with grubhub orders cause no one was inside at first. We ordered the sopes. The bread was overcooked and hard. The pastor was good. Steak had alot of chewy parts. Not too bad wished it had more sour cream and cheese. When they serve the nachos they don't fill up container. It had like 7 nachos in it at first. Had to ask for a second helping. Price is fair.

Anytime I see a new small business come into town, I always make it a habit to visit and see what they have to offer...especially if it's Mexican food lol So I've picked up from Molcajete's atleast 3 times already and I was somewhat disappointed by what I found. Now don't get me wrong, this is definitely NOT a bad place to eat. The people who run it are very friendly and the service is exceptional. But I just couldn't find any type of "Wow" factor when it came down to the food or it's menu. The tacos are kinda mediocre (and small). The meat, a little dry (especially the al pastor) and everything seemed to be seasoned all the same because all their meats tasted similar. The steak, the pastor and the barbacoa all tasted fairly identical and they shouldn't. Now their tamales on the other hand, we're very excellent. A lot of places around here make their homemade tamales too thick...their nothing but all masa. But Molcajete's tamales on the other hand were a bit more slender and packed proportionately, 50/50 half masa, half carne. Definitely get the Rojo (the pork tamale). Molcajete is a very small establishment. If you so much as blink when driving by it, you could miss it. They don't have a lot of space inside their business but they utilize what little space they have to seat a few patrons and they keep the place really clean. Overall, it's not the best Mexican spot in town but if you're looking for an alternative from what you've been having, it's not a bad place to visit.

Order 5 taco on Tuesday. Ask for flour shell but couldn't get it. But the taco was still good tho. Wish the salsa was hotter.

Honestly I was so excited to eat the food since it’s so hard to find a place with tripas and lengua on their menu. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Ordered tripas, lengua, and tamales and If I didn’t know any better you’d think I’d have covid. There was no seasoning on the meats. Not even salt. The only thing I tasted was the salsa. The tamales were just okay. Nothing special. I could go to Walmart and get frozen ones that tasted just like this. It’s such a shame.

The Al Pastor Classic Tacos and Chicken Fajitas were both very good. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We will certainly be back for more. Limited seating is available for dine in.

Good food for a reasonable price. It is our go-to foe Mexican food, and there is a lot to choose from.

Terrible customer service, i spent 17 dollars on 4 tacos and I gave them a tip. To start off with when i received my 4 tacos i was given 2 tiny salas I didn’t realize until I got car I went in to ask for more. Along with that I wasn’t given any limes like I requested in my order absolutely no problem! The problem is once I got home my order was incorrect and they proceeded to tell me that the only option was for me to literally drive back for them to specifically “put onion and cilantro on the tacos” I asked for a refund, credit or if I could tomorrow? because it was after 10pm and the “close” at 10pm. They proceeded to say the only option was to come that night and they once again proceeded to tell me you can come to night we close at 10:00pm I said it’s impossible for me to get there before you close if you 10:00 and it’s already after 10:00. As if i was an idiot, do better! all this for. some 1 star tacos!

Love the authenticity and handmade feel of almost everything! You can tell they fry their own chips, and they have an amazing salsa selection!!! The quality is there, but my only gripe was quantity. They are not the cheapest in town, but not crazy, but for some of the cost I'd like more meat. I understand inflation is a thing, but when food costs stabilize I'd love to see more.
