“I brought my mom here for lunch and everything was wonderful! We both have food allergies and they were very attentive and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. In addition to that, everything was delicious! We both got burgers, hers had bacon and mine was without bacon and both were amazing! The fries were also really good, crispy and well salted. I can't say enough good things about my visit. We'll definitely come back!“

If you're a fan of sushi and Japanese style appetizers but looking for a Subway restaurant style of informal dining ...a quick bite to eat, without all the overhead in service and prices, then I suggest trying this place.My favorite is the deluxe salmon bowl with the black rice. The fish is very fresh and I like the crab and seaweed salad. This has a very savory without being overpowering a true umami kind of tasting food. No overkill on making it hot or spicy. The meals include complimentary self-serving of miso soup. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. In my opinion it's a great sushi bowl at Subway prices.“

Owners making them right in front of you and put box of sushi on the shelf and you can pick whatever you like. Sushi looks very good put together great taste , like in high end restaurant. Famous little shop for local, a lot of people in and out. Highly recommend if you in Lincolnshire area.“
“Would highly recommend Kuro bistro for the playful menu, house-made sauces, fresh ingredients, great service, and relaxed ambience. We had hibachi scallops, sushi pizza on crispy rice, several rolls, and hibachi shrimp. We also ordered a side of the amazing spicy fermented daikon pickes and gomae. The kyuuri roll would be a perfect lunch choice too. Everything was very good and service was excellent. Lots more to explore on the menu, will be returning many times.“
“Went here on a Friday night recently for the first time with a friend. The host and the waitress made sure that my first experience would be unforgettable. We received delicious appetizers on the house. Service was probably the best service I've received in a really long time. And most importantly the food was delicious and fresh. Staff put so much effort into their service and food. It was refreshing to have such a positive experience at a local restaurant for a change. Will be back again soon!“
“I have been going to Hayashi for years. Whenever, I have a craving for Japanese strip steaks, sushi, or Udon that is my go-to place. Excellent Food, Excellent Service, and Excellent Ambiance. I would highly recommend this Japanese steak house. They go out of their way to serve their customers. In my case, I love to have their kimchi and they bring it without even me mentioning about it. 5 Stars.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available in their menu.“
“Typically I give this place all 5 stars but had to only give 4 stars for the service. The place was busy as usual, but one meal did not come until 20 mins after everyone else was done eating. They kept saying another 5 mins. Don't get me wrong the sushi is great and I will be coming back, but it would have nice if they offered us a discount or a free dessert.“

“My boyfriend and I went here to try something different. It seems like it’s newer and hasn’t been open for a very long time. We did not regret anything. The man cooking at the grill was absolutely amazing and funny. The shrimp and seafood was out of this world. We’ve been to a lot of hibachi places in the area, even the more well-known ones and honestly, this one was both of our favorite. I also liked how it wasn’t crazy busy inside and you can actually, hear each other talk. I highly recommend this place. You will not regret it.“

“Really nice little place. Me and a friend came in and they sat us down right away. We got all you can eat sushi. We tried all of the sushi and every single one of them were delicious. The Crab Rangoon was the best I ever had and all of the other sides we had were amazing. “Many years ago we visited Koyasan in Japan and it was a village that was the center of Shingon Buddhism with 117 temples scattered around a cedar forest. We stayed overnight in one of the monasteries and dined on shojin ryori meals, made without meat, fish or animal products (and without onions or garlic). What does this have to do with Koya, the Japanese restaurant in Highland Park? Nothing, I'm afraid--the restaurant's name simply evokes memories of a very meaningful travel experience and I found myself reminiscing. This visit my Saba sashimi was cut a little thicker and did not seem to have the usual marinade. The Rainbow roll was ok but bland. The wait staff was a little argumentative when my companion checked if he was given the Dynamite roll. It was spicy but kind of meagre. We usually love dining here although this visit did not seem up to the usual standard. They do provide free miso soup if you want and complimentary mochi ice cream and Couque D'asse cookies. Though this visit was not our usual, we do love the food generally and will be back.“

I didn't think we'd ever find Tara no Kiku (cod milt) fresh in Mundelein, but they're doing it. They have a nice selection to dine izakaya style.
