In town for business and George Trois came highly recommended (Thank you, Susan!). Perfect time of year as Chef Michael is showcasing a beautiful tasting menu featuring perigord truffles. Everything was absolutely delightful from the great service (Thanks, Abran!) to the fantastic wine pairings (Thank you, Brian!) My favorite dish was the Coquille St. Jacques “En Tuxedo” which was scallop and truffle encased in a butter pastry, swimming in a lavish champagne-caviar sauce. Absolutely stunning! Thank you so much and such a great honor to meet you and your team. George Trois is a MUST VISIT for any true gourmand.

Once again what an amazing experience! Their menu will take you to a completely different experience. Every little detail is well guarded by the chef and his staff of well seasoned servers that will make sure your experience is way above expected. This is what I call fine dining… you will enjoy it!

In September of 2023, George Trois streamlined from an 8-10 course tasting menu to a 4 course prix fixe menu with wine pairings. We jumped a the chance to experience Chef Michael's higher end cuisine under less strenuous conditions, and were very pleased. Our meal consisted of seared sweetbreads for me and goat cheese salad for Kelly, then splitting a dover sole , followed by saddle of venison for me, Tornadoes Rossini for Kelly, and then wrapping up with chocolate souffle. Everything was top notch. The sweetbreads were earthy and delicious and presented on a bed of polenta and adorned with an explosion of crispy fried leeks, which were like exquisite fried onion strings. The dover sole was perfection, firm and buttery. The venison was Chef Michael's classic preparation with chestnut puree and sweet potato gratin, in a huckleberry sauce. This is the best venison I have ever had and a must eat dish, which you can sometimes get at Aboyer, as well. I need to eat it every year. Kelly loved her steak and the chocoate souffle, a bit sized portion, was perfectly executed. Our wine pairings throughout the meal were exceptional, but they do not include the dessert course - at least they didn't that evening. No worries, though, as they have an excellent selection of bourbon. I strongly recommend my Francophiles visiting here as soon as possible, who knows when Chef Michael will go back to a larger format! George Trois is a private dining room inside the Aboyer restaurant. It has only 6-8 tables, depending on the arrangement and size of parties. The room itself is almost uniformly white, and brighter than you might expect or prefer for an elegant evening. It has a subdued vibe to it, but you will hear noise from Aboyer when guests or servers enter or leave the room. But these are minor quibbles and not something that detracts from one of the finest French dining experiences in the Chicago area.

Went out after a grueling vacation to our local watering hole and was very impressed with the latest 5 course (always get the 5 course) prixe-fixe- I’d never been a fan of truffles but tonight my fiancé and the sommelier helped change my mind offering a lightly oaked Chardonnay and not judging me too much for hating red wine. It always makes me happy to be back home when he takes me here!

The latest G3 menu is fabulous. A trip down memory lane with dishes from Restaurant Michael and Deux Gros. Three or four courses but each is full rather than bites as for tasting menus. The Dover sole is highly recommended. Really worth ordering as a special treat.

The 12 course tasting menu amounted to the best meal my wife and I have ever eaten, bar none. Not in America, but everywhere we've been in the world. The creativity, the craft, the technique, the HEART in every course was apparent from the moment the first plate landed on our table. I've included 3 of the 4 desserts we had. Each better than the last, last of which was a tubular chocolate disguised as a cigar in an ashtray plate, complete with "ashes." Portions were perfectly sized to leave us satisfied without feeling bloated. It was our 40th anniversary, and I can't imagine anywhere I'd rather go (with the possible exception of Tuscany, but that's another story). It's definitely a "special occasion" place for us. We've been regulars at Lachowicz' Aboyer, and before that Michael restaurants. His yearly menu tribute to major influence Julia Child will bring tears to your eyes, and at a very affordable price. Plenty of free parking in the neighborhood adds to the appeal.

We went on a Saturday night and were surprised there was only one other couple dining, especially given the outstanding menu and artistry. I learned the hard way on the bill. The problem is the surprise mandatory wine prices. The meal itself was $185 per person, and very fair. With tax, mandatory tip and a $5 "order" charge, that came to $497.02 for both of us. A lot, but fair given the excellent quality. But where I got suckered was on the wine, and it was never told to me in advance. The only choices were $195 or $275 tastings per person. That, with tax and tip, more than doubled the total cost for dinner to over $1000 for two. A very unhappy surprise. I figured I could have ordered a bottle or even two of $100 or so wine, or even just a few wines by the glass. But no --the only choices were the two wine tasting menus, The wines were very good, but not worth $40 per pour, nor a mandatory $500+ for two. Given many other fine restaurants, I unfortunately won't be back here. I'm not interested in wine costing more than the meal nor $1000 nights out.

What can you say about George Trois? It is one of the best French restaurants on the north side of Chicago. This restaurant is the place chef Michael Lachowicz puts his cooking talent on displace and showcases varieties of French cuisine in his own way. What you get from there is a 7-course tasting menu which changes every season. Furthermore, you are in a faire small, intimacy dinning room with only 5 tables and receive top-notch service from staff members. Before each course, chef Michael come out to explain what you are about to get in great detail. This was absolutely one of the best dinning experience I ever had. If french food is your favor, I would recommend everyone to give it a try.

George Trois is an outstanding fine dining experience. The design of the menu is great. The preparation of the cuisine is great as well, with the flavors of the ingredients front and center. This is a city fine dining experience without the city problems.

My wife and I dined at George Trois this past weekend, and we can say that the tasting menu blew our expectations out of the water. The service staff and sommelier are impeccable without being stuffy. While the chef coming around to the tables added a nice touch and made us feel important. The truffle-themed tasting menu was sublime, and the desserts changed our perspective on what can be possible with such a high-end product. Usually, when we splurge on a tasting menu, we have a few favorites, but every single dish and wine pairing stood up well and was excellent in its own right. This was one experience where we remember every single dish, because they were all our favorites. Portion size was perfect, as we left feeling satisfied, but not over-stuffed.This experience can certainly stand up to any Michelin 3 Star restaurant in Paris, and it is one of the best experiences we have ever had.We cannot wait to visit again.

Incredible tasting menu experience. Restaurant is impeccably designed, servers are wonderful and the food was more tasty and impressive than Alinea. We were thoroughly impressed, and will definitely be back!

George Trois is the passion project of chef Michael Lachowicz. We've been customers since his early days at Le Deux Gros with his brother. We decided there was no place we'd rather try for our 45th wedding anniversary dinner than George Trois (The prix fixe menu is out of our range for ordinary date nights. That's Aboyer, where we are happy regulars). And we were NOT disappointed, to say the least. Every one of the 8 courses was both classic and reimagined at the same time, many with a subtle sense of humor; like the dessert that looks just like a half-smoked cigar in an ash tray. Both my wife and I declared each course to be the best we'd ever had. Concept is nothing without execution. G-T is flawless on both counts. How Michelin missed dining here is a mystery. Two star level at the least! Sommelier Brian was more than cordial, and we chatted throughout the meal on many wide-ranging topics. Chef recognized us immediately when he came into the dining room and greeted us like friends. We were made to feel special on a special day. Thank you, chef!
