Super large portions! Actually had to ask for a box. Spicier than most Mexican restaurant fare, which suits me just fine. Staff was friendly, chef came out and asked how we liked the food. Lots of meat in the dishes, a nice change. We will be back!

I you see a rating of less than 5 stars for San Jose Taqueria then you need to just move on. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life. (Just kidding) Seriously though, if you haven't visited San Jose, you are missing out. San Jose Taqueria is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Madison county and probably the surrounding counties IMO. Their menu is unlike any typical menu from the other Mexican restaurants and that what the owner intended. He told me he spent many hours developing the recipes for the menu; pulling from family and traditional foods from Mexico. The restaurant is located next the PayLess supermarket in Applewood Center just off of I-69 in Anderson, Indiana. The interior is what you might expect from any Mexican restaurant but that is where the similarities end. Take your time to go through the menu because you see things you haven't seen before and you will have questions. The staff is more than happy to answer any question you might have because they want you to have an incredible eating experience. If you are there for lunch and it is slow, you just might be able to talk to the owner. He is super proud of the restaurant and will tell you about the journey to open San Jose. Anyway, about the food. I usually get the Burrito Renatá and is what I ordered my first time there. The Burrito Renatá is a burrito filled with al pastor, topped with cheese and their special green sauce. All with a side of rice. When they brought the burrito to the table, it looked a work of art! It looked so much better than any other burrito I have had at those 'other' places. Speaking of looks, remember that old adage... looks can be deceiving? Well, that applies to the Buritto Renatá. It is on the spicy side. Not too spicy, but just enough to let you know its there. Every bite you take has tortilla, al pastor, cheese and that amazing green sauce. You definitely gwet your money's worth! The rice is perfect. Not over and not under cooked. A nice addition to the whole meal. "What about the beans?" you may be asking yourself. San Jose's beans are great, but trust me... you don't miss them with this dish. The burrito and the rice are more than enough to fill even the biggest eater in your group. I love tequila. I love margaritas. If I had one complaint with anything at San Jose, it would be the margaritas. They are 'ok'. Not great but ok. That may change because they are expanding in to the space next door so they can have more seating and a full bar. So stay tuned for that announcement. If you can tell, I highly recommend San Jose Taqueria. The food is outstanding. The ambience nice. The service exemplary. You don't want to miss this place!

I called and asked what was in the Nachos. She told me what was included. I asked if it has onions and tomatoes. She replied, ' No, there's no tomatoes and onions included.'' I reiterated, ''You're sure, there's no onions or tomatoes?'' She again stated, ''No.'' Once I received the food, I noticed there were both onions and tomatoes in the Nachos.I called the restaurant, and the lady who answered passed the phone to someone else. He first stayed he can't replace the item unless I pay for it to be remade. I then informed Him of the previous conversation I had when ordering. He ended up saying, "Come get your money, but I'll have to waste that food." I affirmed it's not my fault considering I what I was told. He restated, ''You can come get your money and I'll just have to waste the food,'' with an attitude. I decided to just throw the food away, post this review, and let him keep his $13. I won't be returning and don't recommend eating here. The guy was very unreasonable when the whole issue was their fault.Dietary restrictions: Trash place. Never come here.

This is now our absolute favorite Mexican Restaurant in Madison county!!! We have enjoyed every menu selection we've tried so far. The Bria tacos are nothing short of amazing! The tender Bria beef on dipped tortillas with the onion and cilantro is amazing! The au-jus for dipping the tacos in is to die for. What a magic flavor explosion! I could eat those every day!!! If you've been waiting to visit this place, what are you waiting for? The service is awesome, the food is awesome, and soon they will be doubling their size!
