Interestingly, I lived in Bloomington for 7.5 years but have only ate at this establishment 3 or 4 times. Best Afghan food I've ever had but I've only tried it elsewhere in D.C.

All of this is my personal opinion, food isn’t that good, very crowed and loud, and definitely too expensive for its taste.

Worst service I've EVER experienced and I was the only person eating in the restaurant. Food is great but all workers stand around and do nothing. I had to go to the kitchen to ask for water and then had to go again to the kitchen to ask for the check..ONLY customer!

Very good food with lots of vegetarian options. Vegan options seemed relatively few, but dishes can be made vegan. Great service. For a college town it's slightly upscale but worthwhile.

Samira is such a unique restaurant to visit. The bread and eggplant starter come to the table free of charge (I can't think of any other restaurant in town that is that generous anymore). The salmon dishes are great, and I've had the vegetarian dumplings as well. Dinner also comes with soup, a delicious lentil.Kid-friendliness: Families are often dining here, and it will feel very fancy to kids, but service is fast and friendly so they will feel welcome.

The food is not college kid friendly with the lowest plate costing $20 It is extremely ridiculous. Not that it's unaffordable to me it's just not worth the price. The soup they force you to buy with the rice and chicken kabob tastes horrible and extremely aged it's probably made in the morning in a big batch and served all day. The chicken is extremely dry and the serving is very small for poor quality chicken. They also take 1 hour just to bring out the a plate of rice and chicken how long could it possibly take to make rice and chicken I can cook it quicker at home. The only good thing about this restaurant is they have free complimentary bread that is stale with some old oil. The free complimentary eggplant also tastes nasty and I love eggplant. They seem to be always late with everything even cleaning the table when restaurant is empty! I will never come here again as they don't seem to have much respect for their customers and think their customers worlds revolves around them. I overall think the problem is with all the staff and not a waiter issue

Food was amazing and the atmosphere and service was great! We ordered the Lamb Kebab and Roasted Salmon - the lamb kebab was cooked to our preference, and the roasted salmon was cooked really well - super tender and not dry at all! Overall, food was really great!

If you think you don’t like eggplant think again!!! This place will have you rethinking your relationship with veggies in the best way. Such beautiful use of olive oil in every dish. Squash unbeatable, marinated eggplant to live for. I drive from downtown Indy just for this gem of Afghani cuisine. Thank you!!Vegetarian options: Excellent option for vegetarians

I went to Samira for lunch and had their buffet. There was a nice variety including meat, veggies, and two choices of rice. The food was good, though all of it was too salty for me. And I like salt. Without asking, they put bread and dessert on our table, which we did not eat, as both of us are gluten-free.
