Apparently Donatello's closed April 3, 2021. We went to the rear entrance and were so informed by an employee of a nearby shop.

Very good Italian restaurant. Part of Carmel for many years. Sorry to share their last day open is April 3. They will be missed.

When the sea bass is available , we always make sure to go to Donatello’s! It’s amazing!! The tomato sauce with olives and capers is perfect! Make sure to get the tiramisu for dessert!!!

Wow. Always a delight to eat here. Just love their food. I highly recommend the Michelangelo Tortellini. Also, save room for some of their excellent desserts!

My husband and I actually went on our first date to Donatello’s almost six years ago. At that time, we had an excellent experience - food was great, service was excellent and the atmosphere was quaint. We frequent the restaurant on special occasions, and went back for Valentine’s Day this year. Unfortunately, the experience this time was not so great. Throughout the entire service, we felt rushed, and that the staff were uninterested in ensuring we had a good experience. We actually overheard one of the owners complaining that she was tired (they are typically closed Sundays) and that the staff would not really get an extra day off because they are always closed on Monday's. The food, as always, was excellent, which is the only reason I am not giving this review one star. Unfortunately, the experience itself was so disappointing. My husband and I have always loved and supported Donatello’s, and we felt as though we were a nuisance for the business we were giving to a locally owned restaurant. At this point, we are not sure when we will be back.

I heard great things about this place and decided to try it out. We got carry out, unfortunately the two dishes we ordered were very bland. Perhaps it's better dining in.

quiet atmosphere amazing food and friendly service this was a great experience! Awesome family owned restaurant
When my wife and I wanted to impress a potential investor in the business, we took them to Donatello's. And it worked! The restaurant always has that impressive, yet relaxed feel to it - perfect place to enjoy refined conversation over superb food and drink in a restaurant that still has that local hometown vibe.

Thank you again for giving my family a great meal. My son literally sings when he eats pizza from this place. Will be visiting again soon.

That was a great meal! I attended a business meeting at Donatello's, and as part of the gathering, we were provided several pasta dishes and an assortment of pizzas. The food was SO GOOD!! It was well flavored and perfectly cooked. I love a great pizza and Donatello's has some of the best I've ever had. The crust was perfect and the toppings were enough to be abundant but not too much to overpower the flavor of the crust, cheese, and sauce. A big surprise was the calamari with cocktail sauce with just the right amount of horseradish. It was a great surprise and I couldn't stop eating it. Everyone in our group kept commenting on how good the food was. It was so good that everyone took home leftovers. We served buffet style, and I don't think they threw anything away, if so, not much. We took it all home! When was the last time that you went to a business meeting and every single person took home leftovers after eating their fill? It happened at our meeting, and I blame it all on the delicious food! Adam, the owner, was part of the service team and everything was on point. Combine that with the old world Italian atmosphere and great service, and you can bet that I'll be back...with friends! Update, my wife wanted to find a better gluten-free pizza, so I told her I'd like to patronize a local business, and Adam Aasen is a fantastic part of our local Carmel community. I reached out to him to see what options they had for gluten-free pizza. They have a crust that has been well received, but the next struggle is getting cheese on that pizza. We were able to get Daiya mozzarella cheese and they made it happen! It was SO GOOD, and my wife gave it two thumbs up!! We will be back, and we are so grateful for local businesses that care for people with food allergies. Thank you Donatello's and Adam!

Waiter was very attentive - food was amazing. Out of the dish we went for but loved everything we picked. Just means we need to go back soon!

I've been meaning to try this place for YEARS. Well, that day finally arrived. It had been a long day so I ordered via Grubhub. Ordered the chicken fettuccine Alfredo with a side salad. The entree was a HUGE serving. I ate and ate and ate and still had enough for the next day. I thought it was well seasoned, hot, and delicious. Definitely comfort food at its finest! I was excited about the salad when I heard their dressings were made in-house. The side salad was also a large portion and had lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and onion. I got Ranch as my dressing. Super disappointed with the dressing. It didn't have any taste. It was just...thick and bland. The salad was fresh so with another dressing, it would have been really good! My meal also came with a loaf of bread. I'm not typically a huge bread person but it was really good. Overall a really good meal. Will definitely try it in-person soon!
