This place was recommended to us.... That person is no longer a friend.... Just kidding, sorta. Three of us ordered three different chicken meals: general Tao, honey lemon, and cashew chicken. In all three, the chicken was dry and chewy. Paid the extra for fried rice. No thanks. Crab Rangoon's were dry and chewy. I don't usually leave bad reviews but honestly we left halfway through and grabbed a burger on the way home.... Disappointed

Not that impressed! We had lo mein and found it to have very little flavor. EXTREMELY skimpy on the ingredients. We ordered take out assuming we would get the soup that is listed on the menu as included but then told that soup is not included on take out, yet the price was not adjusted. First time we tried this place and probably won’t go back. We’ll travel a little further to 146th & Hazeldell to one of our favorite Chinese carry out!

The food is not fresh, the taste is weird, the service attitude is very poor. What a big mistake. I wish I never been there.

We visited for the second time since the restaurant changed ownership. The first time was disappointing and it was a while back so I thought we’d give it another go. It seems that the last time wasn’t a fluke. I asked my fellow diners to remind me not to go back. The food isn’t nearly as good as it was under prior ownership and the service was lackluster at best.

I normally do not leave reviews, but I had to after this meal to warn others. I just ordered the General Tso's lunch combo. The chicken was so hard to eat. It was very hard to cut even with a knife and gives me the feeling that it is not safe to eat. The crab rangoon has absolutely no taste, and reminds you of eating a fortune cookie. The entire meal is completely flavorless and did not seem fresh at all. I definitely would not recommend.

No, thank you. We read good reviews about the Mandarin House on our neighborhood Facebook page. We decided to try it. We went there for lunch. We ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken and an egg roll. The egg roll was disappointing. While the outer crust was tasty, the varied ingredients inside most Chinese egg rolls were missing. The overall taste was bland. The Sweet and Sour sauce was syrupy. The rice was soggy. The fortune cookie was sponsored by a national cryptocurrency company. The inside message was about money. Lots of dough for an average lunch.

Staff was ok, did not do a good job on listening to my food orders when we sat down and my pork buns was cold and hard when it served, jiajiang noodles was cold, overall is not my recommendation for authentic Chinese cuisine!

Unfortunately we can't rate the food. We came in on a Sunday evening and waited to get sat for some time. We finally got a table and waited 15 minutes before anyone came to even greet or get a drink order. As we were leaving the waitress told us she will be right over.

Mandarin house is a mix of traditional authentic Chinese food and American style food. Although it heavily leans over to the American style. I will focus on the traditional menu in this review. I ordered multiple dishes, like the kung pao chicken and the cumin lamb. The kungpao chicken was leaning towards almost too sweet rather than spicy, and the lamb was frugally portioned. The rice itself was also lower quality, it was very sticky and lumped together. If you are going for authentic Chinese food, I would personally skip Mandarin house.

Ordered dinner take out, when we got home had multiple issues/problems with the food & order. Serving portions were very small (even smaller) than lunch, chicken in General Tso's order was hard & tough, order chicken fried rice & there was no chicken in it, Mongolian Beef was supposed to be over a bed of fried rice sticks & it was not, called to inform the manager & never received return phone call. Very disappointed, when at one time, absolutely loved this place.....

a staple growing up. A must stop when I'm back in town. Wonderful family-owned establishment with long-time Carmel roots. Cheers to many more years!

Service was horrible and the food was even worse. Save your money and go to Panda Express. Ordered Mongolian beef which consisted on 3 pieces of meat and the rest were onions. They only had one server who was rude. Will not be coming back.

My go to place for fresh Chinese food every time I visit Indy. Have been a fan of this place since 2005. Bare/minimalist decor but the food and service make up for it. Absolutely love the Hot and Sour soup
