It looks like Hunter's doesn't need another five-star review but here goes... I enjoyed my first visit there a few days ago. The rauchbier (smoked beer) was excellent and a rare find, and the red ale, kolsch and lager were good as well. There are many others I haven't tried yet. Bill knows his beer and he pays attention to his guests which is becoming less and less common in a world of corporate microbreweries where your server often doesn't even drink beer and doesn't know a thing about it. The flatbread pizza was just what I needed to go with my drink, and the live entertainment from Beth Niemann went well with both. And they played Cheers on the TV rather than the usual sports. I'd rather look at Shelly Long than at a bunch of guys running around in helmets. I'm glad I chose to stay in Chesterton and visit Hunter's for my beer, and I'll be back.

The friendliest place ever. Great beers. Worth stopping!

Have you ever had a Duvel or Gulden Draak? Are you tired of the IPA scene at every local brewery/pour house? Then come to Hunter's brewery! I love a full bodied beer with higher-than-average alcohol level. I’m tired of drinking 4-5% American beers to get a buzz, and so I choose to drink two 8-11% percent beers at Hunter’s. You will not find a better selection of imported beers. If you're too drunk at Hunters from trying delicious beers, then they have food! The service is great, the atmosphere is homey, people share tables with you and actually talk like humans. Drink at Hunters brewery in Chesterton if you have a genuine personality. It will do you good. Yes I typed this drunk at Hunters brewery, and yes you should come to Hunter's brewery!

Still an island of vegan friendliness in a not-so-vegan landscape. The online menu seems sparse, but there are specials in-house. The grilled cheese was amazing, with hints of rosemary. Jackfruit tacos were on the specials, and my son couldn't stop raving about them, despite us occasionally making them at home. Quaint little place with live music if you're ever in the area (Indiana Dunes nearby).

Attended a pop up event here this weekend by Vuture Food which served an entire vegan menus. I highly recommend the BBQ chicken sandwich with coleslaw and pickles. The brewery was small but there is a nice outdoor eating area.

We stopped at this place on our way home to Chicago and it was amazing! The owner Bill welcomed us in and was an excellent bar tender. Highly recommend ?

Bill was extremely knowledgeable and has a kind hearted presence. He was able to recommend a great flight. Live music just makes this place that much better. Cheers!

Always the best beer in Indiana.

My wife & I went after a hike at Indian Dunes NP. We were very glad to see some vegan options. The owner was super friendly and provided some interesting background to each of the beers. The beer was great! We’ll be back next time we are in the area.

Music was too loud and Bartender/owner was rude when I tried to ask about the attributes of a couple different drinks. I was trying to make it quick but i was instantly shot down with " look at the menu and figure out what you want before ordering", I think because he was overwhelmed but still. That along with the music being too long ruined my time. Food was pretty decent but nothing to right home about. Should be noted i have been there before and had a completely different experience when it was less busy. Had a ok time worth checking out if not too packed as it is a small place with limited staff.

I LOVE more of the Belgium style beers and they are VERY hard to find. Everyone is currently obsessed w IPAs. This brewery boutique closes early for a brewery but well worth a stop in! Got food and was surprised at how good the food was. We got a grilled cheese and hunters pizza. I would have got growlers had they had the option. But they have their own beers and other rare delicious beers.

Great little place with a few of their own beers on draft and lots of well-curated guest taps, plus other offerings in cans/bottles. Lots of games and puzzles to keep you busy while you drink if you want. We didn't eat during our visit, but they do have a light food menu if you're hungry. The owner and his son were super friendly and wanted to be sure everyone was happy with their beer. Definitely stop in if you're in the area!
