We were traveling through Evansville on my birthday and stopped based on the high rating and pictures. Unfortunately, those are a 'bait and switch' as the restaurant moved to a new location inside the Shriner building. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we walked in, though the dining room had dirty tables so we knew others had been in. The dining area is loud as they have stand alone air conditioning units next to tables. It was not a good ambiance, with mismatched chairs and tables set next to nice ones from the old restaurant location. The kitchen was out of just about everything - Pita, pasta sauce, seafood dip, various wines and alcohol. The service was extremely slow - though I felt bad for the server because how do you tell customers that you're out of everything? Only one person was working, and it sounded like she was also working the banquet upstairs so she really didn't check on us. I ordered the chicken pasta dish (chicken lemonatti), and it was awful - though it's supposed to be a 'house favorite'. My fiance ordered the Gyro tortellini, but they were out of the sauce so he got marinara instead. Apparently they were also out of the gyro meat as it didn't have any meat in it at all, but the server never came back for us to ask about this. It was a relief to leave. I'm not sure if the restaurant is under new management or fell under hard times because of COVID but they do not live up to their reputation and I would NOT recommend anyone eat here.

Had an adult birthday gathering and we couldn't have been more pleased. The food was wonderful. The decor is lovely and there is plenty of room so you're not crowded up. We had such a great waitress! Her name is Dannie Sanders and she has a sweet demeanor and was very attentive to our needs. We will come back and ask for Dannie to wait on us again.

Don't be confused by the picture on Google of this place, it doesn't look like that (anymore?) But that is the correct address. The food is very good, the staff was very nice. Probably one of the best gyros we've ever had, and I could just eat their tatziki with a spoon by itself.

I think if most of your menu is not Greek, you maybe shouldn't call it a Greek restaurant. I had the gyro with fries and it was ok. The fries were pretty good. Quick service and pretty cheap. I probably wouldn't go back.

Honestly, I don't complain much about the food ever.Because, I enjoy food very much. But all honesty the Hummus was better then the food cooked at their river side location..The dish across from me in this picture was so much oil it could've soaked a entire slice of bread and still had enough for half a bowl of oil.My burger tasted like it was frozen instead of freshly patted..honestly the servers personality towards her customers was better then the food.Next time I wanna eat here I'll just go to Wendy's for a burger least I know they don't freeze them.

I ordered chicken and was told there was a marinade but no lemon but tasted like fermented lemonade, salad was supposed to have cheese tomatoes croutons and carrots and I got lettuce and cucumbers with some sour liquid that was supposed to be a type of balsamic. I asked server for onions and she brought out cabbage after we were done with the meal. She could not tell me anything about the food, everything we had wanted they no longer had and when I told her what was wrong, she made no effort to fix it. The only edible part of my meal was the potatoes. Will never go back. Worst dining experience ever.

Food and service was OK. Disappointed that we were the only ones there at dinnertime. Honestly don't care for the new location down by the river in the Hadi Shriners building. A/C units were loud and they distract from the ambiance/atmosphere of the dining room. Smaller menu than the old location, but still managed to be out of some items too. Noticed several "American/local" dishes on the menu, which was also disappointing since this is supposed to be a Greek restaurant. Don't know what's going on but this isn't the Acropolis I remember.

Don't be fooled this is no longer Acropolis. It is a bad diner that has some of the old menu from the Acropolis down in a basement. The Acropolis was one of the best things about Evansville. This is a disgrace to the good name of a fantastic restaurant. Sadly I will never be back.

The food is just not very good here. I have visited the place twice with similar experiences. Sure they have greek food that is just ok, if your into that. But other items on the menu are average at best. For example their chicken strips are processed meat (hopefully chicken white meat) like McNuggets which are bland and tasteless. I had to ask for sauce and got a few prepackaged cups. Unfortunately the sauces didn't help much. Don't order the chicken strips unless you want giant sized mcnuggets.Service was ok.

I brought family from out of state to the new Riverwalk location. There was almost no actual Greek food on the menu. Instead, it felt like we were dining at a VFW. Having traveled extensively overseas and knowing the vibrancy of Mediterranean food, the disappointment we felt cannot be overstated. My vegetables were canned and overcooked, everything was underseasoned and more appropriate in a nursing home, rather than affliated with Acropolis, who is known as one of the best places in the city.

I've been going to Acropolis since opened. Went to new location on walnut today. Very disappointed. No fried pita. No lunch portions. My sisters sandwich was not hot. Thought I would never say this but I will not be going back.

I actually haven't been in about 10 years, but the last time my family was there, there was a ROACH at the bottom of our salad. Unacceptable. We haven't eaten there since.

The service was good, we did not have to wait a long time to get our drinks and to order either. The food was served hot when they served it to us

The food was excellent, the atmosphere was nice, and the service was courteous/timely mannered. My Girlfriend enjoyed her first birthday dinner there. She even loved the margarita I got her lol. Good Times...

The food was good. I am no expert on Greek food but I liked my gyro platter and the Greek sampler was worth the try. My favorite thing was that they brought me a whole flute style pitcher when I ordered my tea. I love this.
