This place is a hidden gem and one I wish I had known about sooner. Part seafood counter part restaurant, this place is packed with deliciousness! It is in a little strip that you might miss if you weren't looking for it. The people there seemed like regulars, and the casual atmosphere reminded me of a little seafood store in New Orleans, where life seems to pass a little slower and where the locals all gather. The catfish was to die for. Love this place!

Caplinger's Fresh Catch Fish Market never disappoints! Being from Alabama, it takes me back to my roots where our family had fish just about every Friday! The market is very clean, the staff are professional and friendly and the store manager, Vincente, is always helpful! Most of the time we do an order pick up and take the food home, but occasionally we will dine inside as we did today. The food is always fresh and delicious! Although the restaurant is pretty busy, the noise level is good and not too loud. Be sure to check this market out whether you want to dine in and have fresh cooked fish or stop by to pick some up to take home, You won't be disappointed!

I went to the Caplinger's on Pendleton Pike and was over charged for a pound of shrimp. Their menu listed the pound of shrimp for $23.99, I was charged $29 and some change so you might was well say $30. All of their prices are $1 more than the Shadeland location. They do not have any scales so I was told that I had to pay by the quarter pound. I was very upset and told the lady at the window that I felt as if I was being ripped off! I did not want to pay for the shrimp but my kids were hungry! I will never go back to the Pendleton location. No fresh fish or seafood.

I think my family and I have been going here for 10 years. Every time we're in the area we make a point to go back. This time they grilled grouper for me and with a fresh squeeze of lemon it was awesome. We also got the tuna melt. It was delicious and unlike any other. The service was great because the staff was attentive, efficient, humble, and inviting.

I do not recommend the fried clams . I have purchased fried clam in California and I've purchased them in the grocery store, as well. The clam stripe is beautiful looking outside, but I asked three different people to check it out and it was tough, tough, that no one else could chew It takes 2 to 3 minute to chew 1 piece. I do not recommend this item at this place! The other food is great. The 1/4 pound for fried clam was over 12 bucks. I had to throw it away

we like to eat here on special occasions but the prices are now way too high and the lady that used to be nice that takes your order and money at llunch time has a bad attitude now for some reason. we will not go back.

We have been here MANY times and have brought many out of town friends to enjoy their food. Until this visit all of our friends have been very satisfied. On this visit my friend from Minnesota ordered a walleye sandwich, broiled with Old Bay seasoning. There was so much seasoning that he could not take a second bite. He took the sandwich to the fellow at the cash register and was refused any restitution/adjustment......such as getting him another sandwich. The person at the cash register seemed to be more interested in his phone than what was happening in the restaurant. I attempted to get his attention on several occasions.....if he saw me, he ignored me. I, finally, went to him and discussed his lack of customer service.....long story, short,.......my friend's sandwich was refunded and we returned to our house where we got some food in his stomach. We have never had a bad experience here until this visit.

This place was off the hook! (fish place do you get the joke?) I had the clam chowder that was free because of a Facebook messenger promotion. I would have paid for it because it was that good. They were out of my oysters so I settled for shrimp and I'm glad I did. They give you a hefty portion. I was not a fan of their cajun potatoes. I rather have fries. But because the soup was so good I did not miss the potatoes. And those hush puppies will make you slap your own self. Thank you Caplingers! I will be back next year. Please have my oysters when I return.

I visited for my first time yesturday. I was perusing the fish counter looking at everything they had while they were slow and ended up talking with an extremely helpful older gentleman who not only told me everything they had but made reccomendations on what and how to order and what they could do to prepare my food. He also walked me through the counter and the frozen section showing me his favorite things to get and how he cooks them and then made recommendations on what to get. I ordered the seafood Philly, the collared greens, cornbread and red beans and rice as well as fried clams and some grilled scallops. Everything was well made and delicious even after the drive home. I even got talked into buying the smoked tuna salad and some Cajun crab dip and it’s amazing as well. The only negative thing I have to say is that my collared greens ended up not being in my order but that’s ok because mistakes happen and everything else was so well prepared it didn’t end up mattering to me. If you’re up for some good seafood at a fair price then Caplingers is the perfect place for your next meal. If you like to cook yourself then check out their fresh seafood market as well. Good prices, extremely friendly, knowledgeable and passionate staff and a good value for your money. Expect to spend more than you originally planned because you won’t wanna leave empty handed.
