Oh My Goodness!! This mom and pop place has my heart! I had the brisket, ribs, greens, Mac and cheese and beans and let me tell you, this place does NOT disappoint.

I had always wanted to try Big Ben's and I'm glad I finally did. When I first walked in I was met with a warm welcome and a very down to earth bunch. You can totally tell this is a family run restaurant. The menu was simple enough to understand and not overflowing with too many options. We settled on the Bear's Bear option and it came with plenty to feed 4-5 of us. I loved reading the history that is all over the walls while we waited, which wasn't long, and learned a few things along the way. Now I am actually pretty picky when it comes to greens and eating them anywhere but at my family gatherings as I do not like any type of canned greens and usually thats what I'm presented with when I dare to order them from a restaurant. I chose to dare this day, however, because the gentleman behind the counter response when asked if they were fresh or canned was how I had almost given him a heart attack at the idea that they would even think to use canned and utter shock at the audacity to even need to ask. So I was sold and man was I not disappointed. These greens were some of the best I have ever had, almost better than my father's! They were cleaned properly, seasoned and cooked beautifully and the taste was the product of someone who knows what they are doing. I did not get any sand or mush just nice hearty leaf after leaf. I will definitely be back for more. We also had rib and rib tips which were both cooked properly and had a nice solid smoke mark present in every piece. They still were capable of staying on the bone yet we weren't playing tug a war trying to get a bite. We were given plenty of BBQ sauce on the side which meant we go as light or heavy as we wanted. The potato salad was Good and had that homemade type of look and taste to them that just took me back to those family gatherings I went to as a kid. I snapped a picture of my plate after I finished most of my greens because I never intended to write a review but I wanted to have proof that I actually ate and enjoyed greens from a restaurant cause my family knows I do not play around when it comes to the quality a thing of greens has to have to make it on and off my plate

Everything was excellent. I got a slab of ribs, a order of rib tips,baked beans and macaroni and cheese for the family and needless to say everything was gone. We'll definitely be back

The service is personable and willing to share all the information and options available. Situated at the origin of the Historical Black Heritage trail, this is an icon place to visit as well as some good low and slow BBQ. The meat was cooked well, and primarily smoked, no bark, but very good. I believe they finish the different cuts and heat to order, which is not uncommon. We had beef tips and Ribs. Both were good. Ribs were StL cut and tips were filet tender. Great work Big Ben!!! Who is at counter and very proud of his work.
I don’t normally leave reviews BUT after having BBQ this good I feel it’s a must. It’s sone of the best BBQ I’ve had. Even living 4 hours away up near Chicago, I will be back down for more Big Ben’s BBQ!!!

The food was ready very shortly after placing my order over the phone! I got the 3 rib meal with one side and it was all hot and delicious. I will be trying this place again!

I’m almost sure it was Microwave brisket Really!!! don’t know how this place has all these reviews by far the worst place I’ve been to in the area.. the brisket was so hot and really dry.. soon as I open my plate, I didn’t have a good feeling. I went in there with high expectations the tea was good..

Had the pulled pork dinner. It's pulled pork in a mild BBQ sauce on a bun.(a lil dry) Served with 2 sides. I had the collard greens and grilled cabbage. The cabbage had a subtle smokey flavor. Overall a good dining experience. For the dinner and a 16.9 oz soda $15.78. Seating for about 20 people.
