Frisco melt was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. My parents loved theirs also, particularly the Reuben and the potato salad. Price was neither expensive or cheap, and the service was excellent.

This was my first visit to Madison, IN. We were walking and decided to stop in the Downtowner for lunch. I'm so glad we did! Excellent food and friendly staff. I will stop in again when I'm in Madison, IN.

The Downtowner portions and prices were reasonable, but of the 5 of our order, we all agreed that all but one of the dishes' flavors were bland.

We were at the Downtowner on Wednesday night. It took 45 minutes to get our sandwiches. When I asked the hostess to speak to the manager after 35 minutes we were told that there was not a manager working. I would not recommend for service or quality of food.

Lovely dinner. Sandwiches and soup a nice way to enjoy a stroll through Madison. This has become our regular lunch stop.

We can always count on Madison for something a little different. Living in a large city we are accustomed to chain restaurants and this is definitely not your typical chain food. We ordered an Italian and a Ranch Sandwich both were absolutely perfect. The sandwiches were delicious and extremely filling. We also ordered some of the best sweet tea we have ever had. We will definitely be back this summer and look forward to dining outside on our next trip. Thanks ladies!

I wish I would have taken pictures of my food. The potato soup and union jack sandwich were excellent. I've had potatoe soup but nothing like this place. It was exceptional. Honestly I could here for lunch 2-3 a week. To the staff and owner keep doing what you're doing. Also try their cookies or cakes their great too.

First time here. Wanted something warm on a cool rainy fall day on break from school. The server suggested the little Italian. It was anything but little and absolutely delicious. It came warm, lightly toasted and came quick. Other than the constant cold breeze freezing my nearly our the front door, it was a pleasant experience. Will eat again.

So many great food options in a perfect location in the middle of historic downtown Madison, Indiana. My personal favorite that keeps me coming back is the homemade chicken salad on a toasted croissant...awesome sandwich! This restaurnat is highly recommended!!

We had a great experience at The Downtowner today. My wife had the Reuben and the crabby asparagus soup. I had the Tex-Mex Beef and the loaded potato soup. Both meals were excellent. Most impressive the was the quality, friendly service received on a very busy Saturday and they were understaffed. They still took great care of us.
