Big Daddy's BBQ is a hidden gem. The dinning area is clean with plenty of seating. I tried the rib tips with a side of collard greens. Both were awesome with the meat being fresh and meaty. The staff are extremely friendly.

I hate leaving bad reviews on black owned businesses, but they can get it too.Okay, so the sauce is trash, the tips were old and I was there 35 minutes after they opened. I could barely chew the meat. I believe I was given the leftovers from last night. I ordered a large tip and link combo and I was given a half of link and it too was dry and old. I ordered 8 wings and asked that they be fried HARD, they weren't. The skin was soft and the wings were undercooked and you couldn't break the wing without tearing up the wing. The staple of a fully cooked wing is being able to pull the wing apart without fighting with the food. Overall I give the food 1 star and that's only because I couldn't give it a zero. I'm from Chicago and I live in Indianapolis and was looking for a bbq joint so I wouldn't have to go all the way into the city. Well that didn't work so Lem's here I come.

Trying to figure out how this place is only open 2 days a week and still takes an hour to make 2 sandwiches. Nobody working here seems to have any sense of urgency or customer service skills….guess that’s why I was one of only two people there at dinner time. If you haven’t been here and are thinking of trying it...don’t. If you do, maybe cancel any plans you have for the next several days.**edited - the wait was a little over 40 minutes, not an hour. I will clarify that per their reply. However, they told me the wait would be 20-25 minutes..not nearly double that. Apparently the timing here is important to them, which is ironic…Would have said “thank you” and left if they would have let me know they were busy and the actual current wait time. Gave it a try and it’s just not for us. Best of luck, though.

I found this place when I first moved to Merrillville in 2018, I always went to the Gary location and the food was always good. Fast forward to this evening, I had been wanting some good bbq for the past week and was prepared to drive to Gary and get some but to my surprise they have a new location about 10 minutes from me in Schererville. I ordered my food online and it was ready ahead of the time they gave me. The new location is beautiful! They have a full bar and plenty of space to eat in, however it was empty on a Saturday which was super surprising to me. I ordered the half bbq chicken, rib tips, baked beans, and potato salad. Once again they didn’t disappoint! I was so glad to find consistency in their food years later. The chicken was seasoned to perfection and my family said the tips were tender and delicious. I also grabbed a piece of the homemade lemon pound cake when I picked up my order and “chefs kiss” the perfect combination of flavors, not too sweet and the lemon wasn’t overpowering. That can get dangerous for me ? because I could see myself easily over indulging. If you’re looking for some good bbq, look no further.

The first time ordering from here was a bit trash but gave them a second chance many months later, and could not place my full order after paying the full price. Macaroni dry and greens ain't shit. Chicken should have been cooked longer and the sauce tasted off very weird in flavor. I will never go back would have did better going to McDonald's just threw it in the garbage ?

I went tonight after not going for months and I’m absolutely happy that I took that 30 minute drive, it was well worth it! I ordered X-Large rib tips & a small link, I wanted to make sure they put sauce on my fries, when I got home, they had even put extra sauce in the bag, I thought that was awesome! The lady at the counter was very pleasant, she greeted every customer as they entered the restaurant! I wish I had taken a photo of my food because it was everything I wanting! I’ve been going there for years so I’ll definitely be back!
