Lovely place with super friendly service and chef. They handed little gifts out to our kiddos and they support veterans.

I was suspicious upon seeing the one-page menu with about 20 items total. Most are Asian fusion, such as bao and curry noodles. We ended ordering salmon, scallops and the crab noodles. To our pleasant surprise, everything tasted delicious. Prices are not cheap, but cheaper than comparable restaurants in cities like Portland.Service was quick and friendly. If you are in South Bend, can't go wrong with this place.

Good cocktails and friendly atmosphere. Owner talking to people. I stayed at bar and Scooter (mixologist as well) had good recommendations on food and drinks. Good and really handcrafted cocktails. Definitely recommend and return when possible.

Susan and I went to Render yesterday and had one of the finest meals we have ever had. Each shareable entree from the Bao to Tiramisu was presented beautifully and the unique tastes included with each were superb. Thanks for a great experience. We will be doing this again.

Our server, Scott, was very helpful in explaining the menu to us since it was our first visit. We shared all the plates we ordered. The chicken bao was crispy, delicious and topped with pickled cucumbers and peppers. The crab cakes had great flavor. The New York Strip was cooked perfectly and it was very tender. Let me say, I’m not a huge fan of Brussels sprouts. These were amazing. The parsnip purée was a great addition to the flavors of the vegetables. If you’re a fan of crème brûlée, save room for the trio. The vanilla was tasty, chocolate was rich and creamy, but the favorite was butterscotch. We will be back and next time, I hope it’s on ramen night!

Went to Render during Restaurant week where they had a special deal “3 plates + dessert for $40” and it was worth. I enjoyed the squid ink linguine the most.

This was my first time at Render since they reinvented themselves. I was truly disappointed with the very limited menu. There was not much that genuinely appealed to me. They sell themselves as a "shareables" restaurant and I, along with my fellow dining partners, found the size of the portions pretty small for some thing they recommend sharing. The prices are more than the food was worth. I loved the original Render and the reinvented restaurant is not one I would recommend or find myself returning to for dinner.

We were in South Bend trying to find a place out to eat at 7pm on Friday. We tried a couple of the more famous restaurants, but their reservations were full. We drove past this place and gave it a try. So glad we did. The place was filled, but had a table available for the two of us. Atmosphere was great. Tables were close, but not intruding. We ate wedge salads, lamb chops and a filet. All were great. Had a bottle of wine that was very good. So glad we found this place because we will surely be visiting there much more.

Render continues to surprise and delight with its rotating seasonal menus and inventive dishes such as mussels served in red curry broth. There are other excellent fine dining options in South Bend, but at the moment this is the most exciting. Note also that while the restaurant initially was all 'small plates,' it now has three tiers of offerings, from small to large.

The staff were incredible, sociable, and offered perfect suggestions on drink and food selections. The owner, Hillary, was out saying hello to regular patrons and had no issues introducing herself with a thank you and smile. The food was full of flavor and the variations on some tradition style choices was a hit. The BAO is a must try! The pillow like texture almost melted in my mouth. Between the sweetness and the savory....don't pass this up! The sweet potato gnocchi had just enough spice to let my tastebuds know my comfort food was well worth it. Don't pass this place up!Parking: Accessible parking.

Service extremely slow/inattentive servers. Only ones seated in restaurant. Did not clear dirty plates for over 30 minutes and there were many since this is basically a small plate dining experience. Took over 30 minutes to get our dessert and were informed the cappuccino machine not working. Unfortunate dining experience.
