We were passing through and stumbled upon this gem. Upon entrance, the staff greeted us with a hearty hello. The menu gave us an abundance of choices. The patty melts were grilled with skill, omelette was cooked with perfection, and was kindly accented with crispy hash browns. We would definitely stop in for a bite another time.

Ms. Betty's was an out of the way off the highway diner that offers a nice option to chain food at the truck stops. Good Homestyle cooking, nothing that was especially interesting, but a nice local place for fried chicken and catfish nibblets. Check the board for specials and the desserts. Apparently the desserts go quick, the blackberry cobler was good. The specials were basically the same price entrees on the menue but with an extra side. Lots of side options. Small but clean restrooms. The fried chicken was good, the catfish was in nibblet form and kind of rubbery, so not a great texture. Very Friendly and attentive staff. If you go into town there is also a few very nice antique shops in town.

This is NOT a dinner theatre! It's a small DINER right on the main drag. If you want some local fare & friendly servers, give this a try!

This diner is hard to find, the address on their business card should put them by the train tracks in the middle of town, but it's actually right next door to the Bryce Inn and across the street from the Exxon truck stop, closer to the expressway. We drove up and down Main Street, sure we were crazy till we stopped and asked a local for direction. SO glad we did, because this place fries a mean catfish! The whole town of Smith's Grove was like visiting an old friend- everywhere we went the people were gregarious, warm and welcoming- and stopping by Miss Betty's was like having that friend cook you your favorite dinner. The food was delicious, the service was phenomenal, and all I could think about as I was leaving was when I would be able to come back... and since I live in Chicago, that's quite a compliment. This serendipitous stop was a real treat, I look forward to making this a regular detour in my travels along I65.

This is a diner (not a dinner theater). Catfish is excellent. Country fried steak is perfectly seasoned. Fried apples and potato salad are delicious. Clean, fast & friendly service, popular.
