We scheduled a guided distillery tour and were amazed by the knowledge, process, and passion of the distillers including Justin, our guide, as well as Alan, the Head Distiller who joined us and added even more to our experience. We were so impressed with the start-to-finish process and the explanations that Justin gave throughout the tour. He provided a great amount of detail and science to the distillation process, but kept it understandable for us novices. Justin was great about answering any questions we threw his way and added his own personal experiences to the storytelling that really made it enjoyable and informative. He even asked us about our own tastes and recommended certain spirits at the tasting, which is included. We got more than we paid for and would highly recommend the guided tour!

Have a bottle from Papa Joe's, Barrel Series 112.9 proof. I am enjoying it very much. There must be a very light char on the barrels. Being here in Richmond, I might just make it that way one morning and plan a visit.

The connected restaurant called Rishi's served overpriced prepackaged food. The wine was also extremely expensive for a basic quality that is drinkable at best. The service was slow and inattentive. The French Lick Winery used to be a quality place but is no longer providing the wine lover experience.

Our visit was so great we went back the next day while staying at West Baden! We had a wine tasting with Justin, who was amazing, knowledgeable, and friendly! All of our servers were very kind. We got appetizers both times and all of the appetizers were delicious. There are so many types of wine and all are high quality and very tasty. We make this a part of our trip every time we go to French Lick, and will continue to do so!
