Great spot in town for excellent Mexican food options. The margarita pitcher is an excellent buy to split with friends. Cannot go wrong with any of the tacos. They are *chef's kiss*. The sampler is a good way to try them all and figure out your favorite.

This place is very good, the food is delicious. The service is kind of terrible though. The first time I came to eat here they forgot about us and the second time I ate here they forgot to bring out the queso we ordered and we couldn't find our server. We got no drink refills.

Honestly 0 stars if I could. Horrible service that definitely needs to be reevaluated by management. My friends and I wanted some more chips because we had just gotten queso and barely had any chips left from the basket that they initially served us once we sat down. This server/host was extremely rude to me when I asked if our table can have more chips and if they had any more available since it was 30 minutes till they're close. In a rude demeanor he just looks at me and says "you have chips on your table that you can eat." The fact that he had the audacity to say that to a customer is extremely concerning. He then walked away and never offered our table more chips or even answered my simple question as to if they had any more chips. But wait there's more, the server pictured proceeded to come to our table and complement my friends child saying how cute she was etc. Then moments later sits a few tables across from us and bad mouths the Child with another server in Spanish, A language I am fluent in. He proceeds to laugh and says the child is a b****** with no father and has a deformed raccoon looking face. Which is the uttermost disrespect I have ever encountered from any type of employee at a restaurant. The fact that he would even make snide remarks a few feet away from us is extremely unacceptable. My friends and I were just trying to enjoy some dinner and we did nothing to provoke the only two visible staff yet they took it upon themselves to give us such a horrible time.

Worst Margarita I’ve ever had. I’m sure it was poured from a jug of premix. Not very cold and served to me in a soda glass with a sloppy salt rim. Wanted to sit outside in a perfect summer day, but they had ONE server for the entire restaurant (at 5:00pm) and they couldn’t spare sending someone in and out.

We stopped in for a margarita and chips /salsa. The chips were stale and the margarita tasted like they used lime-add for the mix.

I was excited to try this restaurant after a friend suggested it because I was visiting. I should've read the reviews first before coming. TLDR: STAY AWAY. Find another restaurant. Anything but here will be a better experience, since La Hacienda El Sol is very unwelcoming. Echoing a previous review, the chips were indeed very stale, the salsa was meh, and the bean burrito combo that was ordered was barely edible. The beans were hard and barely warm. My friend finished one of three burritos like a trooper because he was hungry, but I couldn't stomach more than half a bite. I ordered a simple chicken tamale, and it was extremely dry and tasteless. Beyond the food, I was patient with the server since English wasn't his best language. Having learned other languages, I can understand what a struggle that can be. However, our server had three other friends come along, and they didn't order anything. Instead, they came to loiter in another segment of the restaurant and proceeded to not only stare at me but direct racial comments at me. I brushed it off, but they later mocked both of us in Spanish. I felt extremely uncomfortable after a few more stares and unwelcome comments and asked for the meal to be to-go. His friends translated for the server, and then all three proceeded to leave as if our presence was their only reason to stay. Unbelievable experience during my first day visiting Purdue University. All in all, one of the WORST experiences I've ever had at a restaurant, and I highly recommend staying away. Terrible food, worse atmosphere, and unprofessional staff behavior. P.S. If you're one of the three guys reading this, don't assume that because someone is not a native speaker that they aren't familiar with your language.

Honestly this was an awful experience. Never going again. People were rude and food had no taste. The waitress was talking loudly because it was noisy but would rudely tell us I can't hear you multiple times. She even told us they didn't have ice for our drinks but I saw multiple people get ice with there's. Keep in mind we were Hispanic and everyone else was American I felt like we were treated very differently and rudely. She was even annoyed that we were paying with cash and asked us multiple times if we had a card and I said no. She said well I don't have any change and gave us no change back. I will never being going there again nor do I recommend it.

Really great service, excellent shrimp fajita, one of the top 5 Chile releno I've had. Plus negra modelo on draft.

I'm going to preface this with me being picky about my Mexican food. I thought this food was fantastic! I didn't take a picture of my plate before I tasted the rice, and I smashed it because it was so tasty. Oops very traditional Mexican restaurant style inside with colorful tables and chairs. Lots of TVs so it could be a good place for game day when they offer a 100oz margarita tower! I didn't get one this time, so I'll have to go back for that. The food came out very quickly, and was piping hot. My only complaint is that the server didn't really seem happy to be there. It was like a chore to serve us I guess. Definitely coming back here.

This is a good place to feed your crave for Mexican. We went with a party of four, each ordering a different burrito. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Staff were fast and friendly.

Great place, food and people amazing. Good music and prices. They allowed our dog to eat with us on the patio.

We visited the Frank Lloyd Wright house, Samara, in Lafayette. Looking for lunch. We were disappointed in this restaurant. The chips were stale, granted they are gratis, but still stale. Salsa was okay, not great. I ordered the vegetarian plate with cheese enchilada, bean burrito and a tostada with guacamole. The guacamole was very good, but tostada shell also stale. Bean burrito was gummy inside and really couldn't eat it. My modelo negra was delicious. this place needs upgrades. Seats in the booth were all torn and uncomfortable with wearing a skirt. I think we will look elsewhere next visit.

If I could rate zero stars, I would. The service was horrible. Every time I go, I get the same server (Letty) who never does a great job. I had friends who visited the country who asked her for recommendations and she shrugged and didn't answer our questions. I ordered for my friends and every time I asked for a certain item on the menu, Letty would say it wasn't available when I would see the several tables beside me get what I wanted to order (Even after ordering). When she was picking up food from the table, she knocked one of my friends phone off the table, shattering it. Then she didn't return to the table for an hour. We had to flag her down several times to pay and when we were paying, she was hovering over us to make sure we gave her a 20%+ tip. I would have tipped her less for the service she offered, but I had to pay her what was written in the device considering she was hovering over us. I just felt bad giving her $0 tip, so I tipped her more than what she deserved. In conclusion, I am used to very bad service. But this was bad HOSTILE service. If you get Letty as your server, please run.

Are You craving Mexican food? But you don't know what Bad Mexican food taste like? Go here and try the most tasteless Mexican food. The only reason this place is still going is cause people get drunk and don't care about the taste.

the staff was horrible the second we walked in the door. from the incredibly rude people at the host stand to our waiter to the average quality food, this place was awful. took us nearly two hours to eat at this place bc our waiter rarely stopped by. when paying at the end, the card reader had the audacity to automatically suggest a 25% tip. please don't waste your time here and instead go to another locally owned Mexican restaurant.
