Have tried La Caretta-Winfield several times now and can honestly say they are AWESOME. Food was prepared exactly to order and delicious! And the service from in the door to leaving was absolutely IMPECCABLE! Most attentive! Love the ambiance and decor of the restaurant! My new FAVORITE restaurant hands down!

Awful. El Jimidor smokes this place. Been there twice and both times they got our orders wrong. Steak is okay and burrito is the size of a taco. Not sure what Tortias they use but they fall apart. The only decent thing is the chips and salsa however, the waiters are slow. You’ll be lucky to get a refill of chips by the time you’re done eating your entrée.The dine in Atmosphere feels awful and cramped.I will never go back, no way this place is going to stay in business.El Jimidor smokes this place.

Entire staff is very friendly and welcoming, the entire place is kept very clean. I have been there 5 times now and never had an issue, food is always perfect. If you want some real hot salsa just ask and they will bring it. Drinks are delicious and have a very nice presentation.

Love La Carreta in Merrillville, so very excited to see one open closer to my mom's house. I placed a big carry-out order for my birthday. The place is right behind Buddy and Pals off Randolph. Everything was a hit. Obviously it would have been better/fresher in the restaurant, but that's the nature of carry-out. Partner and I loved the pastor tacos, the guacamole was flavorful and fresh, the kids adored the chicken taco and enchiladas we got them. My mom said the carnitas were perfect, a favorite dish of hers that tastes just like at the older location. The chips were tasty with a hint of salt, and the bag was nice and oily - a sign we weren't getting dry old stale chips :) I want to go back, and dine in, and try a margarita or a draft beer with my meal. Definitely stop in and give it a shot!
