I just LOVE this little establishment! I've been coming here since I was a little kid, they have a great variety of foreign items and delicacies. Their kitchen is what makes me shine, in my opinion. They have the best and the best I mean, THE BEST AUTHENTIC Mexican food here! Especially those succulent Tortas ! If you want great food at a decent price, you must visit this joint! ?

Fantastic food! Even the rice and beans are great. Tacos always made to order as well. Strong candidate for KC’s best tacos.

Located near 169 and I-70 on the Kansas side is Taqueria el Poblano. This corner store grill and market serves the quiet and clean working-class neighborhood that is tucked in behind the Shell gas station on 169. I had been here for dinner during the inaugural KCK Taco Trail in 2021 and when my original choice for breakfast this morning turned out to be closed I decided to stop here instead. The grill was sizzling when I walked in and there was one employee (maybe the owner?) manning the grill as well as ducking over to the market side to ring up customers. The menu is more robust than what I had seen online so I quickly amended my order to the Chilaquiles Verdes con Carne y Huevos. While perusing the market and picking out my beverage I could hear my breakfast sizzling away on the flattop grill. I was a little concerned it would be overcooked since the proprietor was currently handling customers in the market, but I shouldn't have worried. In about ten minutes I had a nicely packaged to-go box of chilaquiles with steak and fried eggs. The chile verde sauce with the chilaquiles is delicious. The meat is well-flavored, but is a tough cut of meat, so I probably wouldn't order the carne again for breakfast. I remember on my previous visit that I had the caldo birria de res - a shredded beef soup with all the toppings - and that we enjoyed the chips and salsa and the very tasty street tacos. The man working there saw that I had been snapping photos of the menu and handed me a paper menu to take with me. He also let me know that there's seating in the back should I return. It looks nicer than the last time I was here, but that was during pandemic times. There's bar-height seating around the grill if you want to dine-in and several booths in the back room. A lot of the menu looks tasty and I really want to return for the mole enchiladas. The prices have gone up, so look for the most recent menu pics. I'll make sure to add this one to my list as a keeper. And I'm always on the hunt for a good Mexican breakfast and I think this could be the place.

Wow, this place was absolutely incredible. My friend who has traveled to Puebla (where mole originated) was with me and said this is the best mole he has had in the US. All the tacos and salsas were delicious as well. Service was wonderful and everyone was so nice and helpful. It's located in a little store and there are a few tables in the back. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

If you like menudo, THIS is the place to come to. Man oh man, it was good. Broth was not fatty like some places. Just the right amount of spiciness to it. The waiter was telling me that they serve it daily too, until they run out. Which surprised me as most places only serve it on Saturdays & Sundays only. And they serve it with or without hominy for those who just want the meat, no extra charge. Will come back to try their other food

These were some really excellent tacos. The pastor was incredibly tender and they put guac on them, which was a nice touch. The horchata was pretty good, had more cinnamon than I'm used to. $3 each for the tacos wasn't too bad but it would be nice if they gave you a break for buying 4. Other menu items looked a tad pricey as well, but if it's all as good as those tacos then I guess people are willing to pay. The little shop inside is cramped but had quite a variety of items. FYI, if you pay with a card there is no way to leave a tip. Our service wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad and I still would have left something. If you're on a taco hunt, this place is worth a stop for sure!Parking: Street parking onlyWheelchair accessibility: The place is a little cramped, might be hard to navigate in a wheelchair.
