The speaker is so bad at the drive through and the woman asked me to repeat 6 times I she was so rude at the drive through when I went to pick up the drink and it wasn’t event th correct drink. Tech problems happen just confirm the order and be kind. There was no reason for this - I can’t drink dairy so I spent $6 on something I threw away. That is super disappointing.

First we waited 30 mins for a parking space. We noticed that customers are reimbursed for parking. We ordered and sat. As we were leaving we went to the counter to have our ticket validated. We were rudely told you’re suppose to do that when you order and its taken off your purchase. Huh? We didn’t know that nor does it state there anywhere when one is paying for parking at the kiosk. Then they say they’ll only give us a gift card. You gave got to be kidding. Never again.

Pros: Good food and coffee- I love that there are vegan and GF options!Cons: Weird hours, expensive dining- Any coffee shop that makes the upcharge for plant milk more $1 or more bums me out. My medium latte shouldn't be $7. If I wanted to pay that, I'd go to Starbucks and get a venti for that price.I still go here on occasion but it's very rare!

I snagged a couple of bakery items this morning (yummy cinnamon roll and an iced sugar cookie).When I would previously purchase baked goods, they were put in a white waxy-like bag that was resistant to things like icing. I don't know when McClain's switched that up, but putting them in a brown paper bag is not a good idea. I would love if they would return to the white bags that seemed much more appropriate to baked goods.I'm hanging onto my bakery items until later in the work day, and now they will sadly sit in a saturated paper bag. I'm hoping maybe this was just a one-off thing with a single employee, and that maybe it isn't a permanent switch. Fingers crossed.Apart from baked good transportation issues this morning, I love the fun atmosphere of this location and truly appreciate having it so close to campus!Anyway, if the Lawrence campus location could please take the white bags back into consideration for baked good, I would LOVE that.Thank you!I'm changing my review from three to five stars based on the owner response. I never stopped to think about supply chain issues, but that explains the change in process. I'm grateful to McClain's for the feedback, and for their intention to use the wax paper bags, when the supply chain allows for it.

I found McLain's Market at a bridal event. When my (now) husband and I went for our taste testing, it was a phenomenal experience. The service was great, the team was helpful and friendly, and the best part (the cake!!!) was delicious. We instantly decided to book with McLain's and we had the best cake and dessert table at our wedding.

McLain’s is absolutely amazing! They created a plethora of treats for my baby shower, and we were blown away. Everything from the quiches to the cupcakes (and literally the best macarons I’ve ever had) were absolutely perfect. They even made a banjo shaped cake as a nod to our baby’s nickname! We LOVE McLain’s!

Good coffee and nice patio. The cafe is huge, so there are a lot of cozy spots to hang out and study in. It is kind a little overpriced, and they don’t have many vegan and gluten-free food options, so there’s room for improvement.

We booked an engagement party at McLain's Lawrence Campus location and had a great experience. The food was delicious, the staff was great to work with and we had so many compliments on the venue from our guests. They even closed an hour early to accommodate our party. I'd definitely recommend McLain's!

Had my engagement party here last weekend-it was PERFECT! The staff was so kind and accommodating during the whole event. Not to mention the food and drinks being delicious! The whole thing was a surprise to me, but it seemed the staff worked very well with my fiancé and our families to get it all planned! I have visited this location multiple times as a student at KU and have never had a poor experience! We will definitely be incorporating them into our wedding in a few months!

Kat and her team at McLain's made our cake and it was stunning and so delicious! Highly recommend the almond funfetti cake with vanilla buttercream---it was the lightest, fluffiest cake we've ever had....others said the same! We paired it with mini-cinnis from Munchers Bakery and it was truly a magical Lawrence dessert bar. Reasonably affordable...for a decorated 2-tier cake + enough sheet cake to feed 120 guests, we paid about $550. They handled the delivery and communication at all stages so well. Highly recommend!
Working with Kat at McLain's on our wedding and groom's cakes was so much fun! She arranged a beautiful tasting with multiple gluten-free options, and the whole bakery team did such an amazing job crafting the exact designs we requested. The wedding cake was completely gluten-free (I have Celiac disease) and EVERYONE enjoyed it! We can't wait to order another one for our anniversary. Thank you, McLain's!

We are SO pleased to have chosen McLains on KU’s campus to host our brunch themed wedding reception this past weekend. We had a guest list of about 70 people, ages 3 to 74, and everyone had an absolute blast at the party & raved about everything from the food, to service, to decor/aesthetic.Sean was extremely responsive to my e-mails leading up to the day of, and Zach was so helpful, gracious & kind to us while keeping the breakfast buffet & drinks table stocked for our guests. Every staff member that we interacted with that day was stellar & hospitable.The food was fantastic, and very reasonably priced for the amazing quality that we received.Everything was clean and organized, and we felt safe with the Covid recommendations they had in place.The location really was perfect for the mood we wanted for our ‘big day’ and my husband and I would recommend McLains for anything from grabbing a quick coffee to using their catering team to host an event. Thank you all for helping us to create such a beautiful memory on our wedding day!
