Just moved daughter to Lawrence for her freshman year at KU and wanted to try a restaurant for lunch that we had never been to before. Searched Yelp for burger restaurant and decided on Mr Brews Taphouse. I picked it mostly because of the menu options for my picky daughter. They offered pretzels with beer cheese, fried cheese curds, chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, etc that she tends to order regularly. We ordered the pretzels, cheese curds, chicken tenders, buffalo wings, a bourbon burger, and a basket of the "secret cut" fries. Everything, including the service, was excellent, and we will definitely be coming back!

Great atmosphere went on happy hour Wednesday from 3 to 6. The discounts were crazy, three dollars off appetizers selected, One dollar off of specialty drinks, $.75 wings. Plus I had a 25% off any entrée coupon. What a blessing to receive so much amazing food and service by Dakota. Food was hot and fresh atmosphere was awesome she worked them tables OK. Can't wait to have another dinner experience any time is the best time to go to Mr. Brews Taphouse. The order consisted of 10 wings. 2 lemon pepper, 2 Brewers Buff and five honey barbecue wings. Cheese curds was the appetizer amazing and we split a bacon mac & cheese burger must have foodgasim OK.

Dear Mr. Brew, We are loyal patrons of your establishment, however the last time we ordered food from the lovely taphouse we got pretzels and cheese, but you gave us no cheese! We decided to give you a second chance, but alas you disappointed us once again. This time when we ordered we made sure to put EXTRA CHEESE in the order. We got our order and we're very excited to eat our pretzels and cheese, but there was no cheese. sad face. kinda ruined the night tbh. Will not be returning. Good riddance.

Atrocious. I went here regularly for their manager, Aline, who is an amazing, hard working, and under-appreciated employee who should absolutely leave the establishment ... she was pretty much the only reason I went. This restaurant turns their staff over bi-weekly because they're continuously getting drunk behind the bar - including the owner - who takes at least three shots of Jameson before he gets behind the wheel every night. They don't pre-bus - let alone bus - their tables after customers have left, and they kick you out for being queer and defending yourself against people who accuse you of being a "confederate sympathizer" simply because you're white and call them out. The food is average, the menu is limited, and the wait staff is S**** I've been asked by their alleged "bartenders" multiple times to step behind the bar and make drinks for them, I've also helped them bus their tables and roll their silverware of my own fruition to be nice, because their employees are too busy texting and getting hammered/vaping/doing shrooms to do any of this themselves. I also bought one of their employees $100 worth of baby gifts for her child, and she's the one that text me and told me I wasn't welcome anymore, allegedly for taking a phone call from my father ... less than a week after I mentioned being genderfluid. Not a coincidence, because I've never been in a restaurant that doesn't allow customers to take phone calls. They deserve to go under, just like Burger M, and they will. :) P.S. - While you can't talk on the phone, you can talk loudly to your 3D companions, so long as you can be straight and obnoxious in person!

This is a tough place to review. Though their menu is limited, some of the items on the menu are quite good (the burgers and the fried chicken sandwich), but others hare perfunctory at best. The biggest issue is how the place operates, or at many levels does not. There has been a huge turnover of staff for some time. Some staff have stuck long term, but there is an overall lack of training and thus service is often spotty at best. Tables do not get bused or properly cleaned, staff does not often do a good job of touching tables, and while the long term employees can be friendly, the experience is often less than can be desired. So, when considering Mr. Brew's decisions must be made and you must ask yourself what is important. Do I want a good burger or chicken sandwich? Then that leans to a strong yes. However, if you want something a bit more inspired regarding other options or sides, then you will be less than impressed. If you want good customer service that you would expect at any restaurant with table service, then Mr. Brew's would definitely would not be a place that would rank anywhere on my dining options list.

Service was great and the food matched the service! Fantastic first visit and it won’t be our last.

I was looking to try a new place in the Lawrence area yesterday afternoon. Was very excited to see Bar-top seating available until I realized they had wrong size stools for how tall their bar was. I’m 6’4, but when sitting in those small chairs, my upper chest barely made it past the counter. It makes you feel like a toddler; I couldn’t imagine someone shorter than me wanting to sit there. The only thing that made this place a “tap house” is the sign out front. Multiple kegs/beer lines were out during my visit; with no one knowing how to change them. When asked about it; my server said “those have been out for awhile, I’ll send my boss another text about it.” Plus if you want to be a tap house; it might be a good idea for at least one person working to know something about the different kinds of beer they are serving. Other than what I can read off their inaccurate menus myself. Food quality was less than average; wings were more chewy than crispy. As well as their “different” fry seasonings were very bland. Plus your food will be served in some sort of metal trough that makes your food seem minimalistic and small. Best to skip this place and move along to next available option.

I would give Mr.Brews 100 stars and then some if i could. Best food in lawrence, they always listen to my requests! I accidentally got bone in wings instead of boneless the other day and the owner/manager (im not 100% sure) went out of his way to bring me an order of boneless wings while I was at work. Super kind staff, even better food! I swear I'm addicted to the wings! I HIGHLY recommend Mr.Brews to ANYONE!!!!

Didn't love it the first time around so I thought I'd try it again. I ordered a Kentucky burger and a cheese burger. I paid an upcharge to add bacon and a second kind of cheese to the second burger. I only got 2 slices of bacon and 1 kind of cheese but at least I got 10 packets of ketchup... The wait staff seemed very nice but I don't feel like going back for a so-so burger carry out and having to open it in the restaurant to inspect for the things I paid for.

Our first time there as we live in Topeka. Burgers and fries were strong. Loved the seasoning choices for the fries. Our server was friendly. Learned they have a Sunday brunch. Will definitely return.

Really surprised by this place! Great food quality and a lot of beer on tap to choose from. Many KS brew options, regional options and some National and international favorites. Really good and unique burger selections! My husband and I liked everything we had!! The only thing I didn’t like was the concrete floor, metal chairs and gray color scheme. Wish the place came across more like a neighborhood bar than a cold casual dining place.

Delivery order was wrong but they came back immediately with it all fixed. Food and customer service were great.
