Updating my review:From the recent reviews and from my own experience it is clear that red pepper is not the same anymore. Ordered two things and both were absolutely tasteless and bland. Felt like an utter waste of money and anticipation. Don't think I'll be ordering from here again!Good food for the price! And they give you portions that are relatively big

i’ve loved red pepper for years and am so excited to dine in at their new location as soon as the parking lot is done. the food and people have always been amazing. i’d recommend any thing on the traditional chinese menu, but my go to order is chong qing spicy beef.

Sesame Chicken entree tasted off. Chicken was chewy with really off balanced flavor making it hard to eat more than a few bites. Crab Rangoon was good. Perhaps just an off day.

After a long day of driving (10+ hours), Chinese delivery is just what we needed -- let someone else do the driving for us, even though the restaurant was only a few miles from our stopover for the night. Everything we ordered was pretty much what you'd expect from a run-of-mill Chinese restaurant. The steamed dumplings were fine. I did like the dipping sauce--it was tangy and a tad sweeter than what I've had from similar restaurants. It really enhanced the dumplings which otherwise skew to the bland side. Their best item that we ordered was the hot and sour soup. The balance of hot and sweet was perfect. The amount of tofu, egg threads, and vegetables was substantial. The soup and dumplings alone made for a full meal that sated my wife's appetite. I needed a tad more so I also ordered "house special" Lo Mein. The huge portion meant enough leftovers for dinner the next day after another ten hour drive. The Lo Mein proved to be a mixed bag --the sauce was under seasoned (to my taste) and the noodles were overcooked and rather pasty. The shortcomings were offset by a more than ample amount of proteins (beef, chicken, pork and shrimp), all properly stir-fried. Ordering online worked perfectly. Delivered was prompt, and communication by text from confirmation of the order to an alert that the delivery was imminent was excellent. All in all, I can recommend Red Pepper Chinese Restaurant for delivery, but don't expect above average food. Check other reviews to learn about dining in.

New location is awesome and food quality didn’t dip at all. If anything, it got better. Huge fan of this place. Welcoming, consistent, and affordable. A rare combo these days.

We used to love this place we have a big family so we always had to order quite a bit, we were so happy when we realized they're open again but haven't ordered yet because we're still trying to figure out what happened to the fried rice???

Before moving it would've been a 5/5 but every order since moving has been sub par and with most of our favorites gone I don't see any reason to go back. Went from one of the best in lawrence to one of the most mediocre places. I can get better from the grocery store freezer section. I hope they can improve.

Best authentic Chinese restaurant in Lawrence. I'm a regular customer and huge fan of the chong qing spicy chicken and ma po tofu entrees. Decent prices for lunch and dinner combos. Love the Fish in chilli broth and potato/cauliflower hot pots. Delivery is usually consistent within the time frame provided. Sometimes food is inconsistent, thus the -1 star. Most staff are friendly but you get the occasional grumpy experience. Must try if visiting Lawrence.

This was our first time here, and we were mightily impressed. Our dishes were well prepared and delicious (generous portions too). There's lots of variety on the menu plus traditional dishes. The dumplings were to die for. The hot and sour as good as I've ever had it before. We'll definitely be back.

I have joined friends for lunch at Red Pepper and found the food to be exactly the way I like my Chinese foods....hot and spicy. Staff are attentive to their dining guests. The restaurant is one big room and can seat a crowd.
