Some housekeeping details. Many of the photos associated with this record are from the original location on the West side of Mass Street between 6th and 7th. The new location is on Elm street in North Lawrence directly across from the levee, and to my mind they've been here at least a year, maybe more. I can tell from some of the recent reviews there is confusion, and it's understandable. If you're expecting a dark interior, interesting lighting and a bank of liquor options on the wall, scratch that visual. The new location does not have a liquor license, though you can bring your own wine I was told, and they have wine glasses. I didn't ask but you should expect a corkage fee. Bit surprised at that because previous restaurants here had beer/wine and we all know it's a big money maker for the business. The new location has rotated between a few restaurants that moved on, at least one due to the pandemic. No surprise in the restaurant world in this town or any other. Glad to see sushi at this location which includes outdoor seating protected by something akin to a tent with plastic. The sushi I'd rate as decent. Nothing to get overly excited about, but nothing wrong, either. Service was attentive and polite, not invasive, about right. Since no wine, sake or beer we opted for green tea. Dinner was a large sushi combo at $28 and a smaller sashimi at $18. Priced appropriately. We started with an order of gyoza. All in all I'd rate the preparation and taste as unremarkable. Of note, billing came and you can pay with a QR code from your phone, something I'm aware of but had not tried. Really liked that experience, and the receipt came to my email with everything I needed. A plus. If you come: street parking, major credit cards accepted, outdoor dining available. The interior is sparse and tables have ample distance between them if that's a concern. Our waiter was not masked which I realize is optional, but would have preferred. As already stated, no liquor license but you can bring your own wine. Assume that means you could bring your own beer but I'd call and check on that.

Best fried rice in town! I know ordering fried rice isn't the first thing you think to order at a sushi joint... but this place has the best fried rice I've ever had in my life. It's buttery with lots of flavor. The rice is fluffy yet a little crispy on the edges from frying. The perfect amount of egg and Lima beans which adds a unique twist! I order it every time. Giant portion which makes great leftovers :) the sushi is 10/10 too.

The food here was amazing, some the best sushi I’ve had! I highly recommend this place! They do not serve alcohol but they do not mind if you bring in your own and have it with your food.

Tried this place for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! I tried the Stonehenge roll and the baked lobster roll and they were great! Best sushi I've had in Lawrence. Will definitely e back.

By far the best sushi place I've found in Kansas. I moved here from Seattle and have never found somewhere even remotely close until now! I'll absolutely be back! The restaurant itself is a little a small so seating can be a bit a weird but the food definitely makes up for it. You can also order to go.

Best sushi in Lawrence, which is why I am giving them 4 stars. In comparison to sushi in Kansas City it isn't that great, but if your ever in Lawrence and want sushi, this is the place to go

Great menu selection with lots of different options. The seafood was fresh and tasted wonderful!

Massive menu, lots of delicious sushi options for anyone. Their dining area is cute with a nice outdoor area. Their online ordering for takeout is super convenient, and the food is always hot and fresh.

Have loved my sushi so far both times!! I only have ordered to go over the phone for pickup + the restaurants a bit small inside so it's easy and fast to grab togo. My go to is the love roll and spicy scallop roll right now definitely love the love roll lol but might have to change it up and try something new. I wouldn't say its going to be the best sushi that nocks your socks off but for lawrence its good! The back area doesnt give me the most cleanliness vibe but not everything can always come off clean or organized thats just me but all establishments operate differently.

My boyfriend and I were sat outside and waited twenty minutes for water. The waiter was at least honest and told us he forgot about us. We then asked for straws, which took another ten minutes to arrive. Another twenty five minutes and we got sushi, which was honestly pretty decent! The biggest problem for us was the service, which is the restaurants fault. Our server seemed to be the only server. For a dinner rush? Not cool. Probably won't come back, would rather hit one of our preferred sushi places like Nagoya in Lawrence or Sushi Uni in Olathe.

Excellent fresh sushi! The chirashi dish offers fresh selection of melt in your mouth fish. The rice is slightly sweetened and is a sufficient serving size. The seaweed salad is fresh, and for takeout... the service was speedy and accurate.

We used to love Tokyo Sushi before they changed locations. Seriously was our go-to date night spot!! I especially loved the baked salmon roll that was served on fire. We have since moved from Lawrence, but finally had the opportunity to go out for lunch and were excited to return to our hub. We were immediately confused as to whether we wait to be seated or seat ourselves. Upon asking, we literally got no response - The guy did not even look up at us. I have read other reviews saying how rude the guy was (not sure which guy they referred to, but both we encountered were rude). So we just sat ourselves outside.... fine. It was a covered patio, but quite literally just a tarp as the "roof" and it felt like a sauna in there; it was a gorgeous afternoon, so just an open patio would have felt much better. Service was slow, but we eventually got water cups and ordered some edamame, but when ordering drinks, they only had bottled coke products. No alcoholic options or soda tap options. We continued on in discomfort, but eventually decided to take the check after we got our edamame - which was rather hard and dry. We missed this place greatly when we left Lawrence, but I will not be returning now. Quite sad as we used to love it....

Was visiting daughter and we stopped by for lunch. The sushi was excellent and prices are reasonable. Will definitely go back!
