I frequent Plate Brookside at least quarterly. Excellent food and service. Leawood was a little closer for Easter Brunch, so we went there and expected the same great experience. Unfortunately, food was not good. French Toast was dry. Chicken Picatta was overcooked and flavorless. Eggs were very overcooked on the bottom side, so it was necessary to scrape portions from the top. The always excellent meatball appetizer was also not up to par on the buffet. I got one good lamb piece, so returned for more but they were bringing more out. It was all overcooked end pieces that were very tough. The cold food, fruit and charcuterie area was much better. It is evident that they had trouble pulling off a buffet. We left there very unsatisfied. Service was just average. Lots of people checking on you, but they did not pick up dirty plates or refill drinks. No folding your napkin when you walk away or replacing your silverware when used like at dinner in Brookside. The restaurant atmosphere itself was very nice.Parking: Plenty of garage parking very near the restaurant.

So I am a big fan of Plates in brookside, however it's been 2 years since the Leawood location opened and we decided to give it a try .. congratulations to the staff at both locations who make every guests feel like family . Thank you for instill the best customer service in your staff.. Different vibes but the food didn't disappoint! Show them the picture and they can tell you what to order , everything we had was amazing ! I brought a newbie to your restaurant tonight , she loved it ! To Kenny , our waiter , only 3 weeks into the restaurant, I can tell you care deeply about your job and bravo to you to take such good care of us .
Waited forever past our reservation time. Seated right next to crazy loud kitchen. Watched cooks touching their hair and making food without gloves. Guy with long hair checking plates was using a dirty rag to clean the edges of plates. Same rag ended up on a bottle of bleach. Food was thrown together and serving sizes were small. Waited 30 minutes past eating to get our ticket. Ended up walking out after leaving payment on table. Won't be back.

This is now one of my favorite restaurants. We can be hard to please as my husband used to be a chef, and I a bartender. Kenny was our server, and he did an exceptional job. We ordered specialty cocktails that were delicious. Kenny explained the menu to us and had great suggestions. Any time food was dropped off, the runner always made sure we had everything we needed as well. We never felt rushed, even though it was an extremely busy Saturday night. Three managers touched our table in the time we were there to make sure everything was going well for us. The food was phenomenal. The bruschetta was so good, I was afraid it was going to make the rest of my meal seem meh. But the lamb shank... Oh the lamb shank! It was heaven! It so tender and juicy it was falling off the bone, no need for a knife! I also had it for lunch the next two days because it was huge! 5 stars, bravo!

This was our 1st time to have lunch at The Plate. Typically we go there for dinner. On Saturdays, there is not only a lunch menu, but a brunch menu, too. Our group had a little of both...biscuits & gravy, mimosas, Moderno salad with Chicken. Of course, we started the lunch with the famous braided bread & garlic butter which is always awesome. Our server that day was the bartender, and she was very patient & helpful. Overall a great experience. thanks!!

I would have given this a 5 star review, except for a rude interaction with the hostess. The manager really should speak to her about what a hostess entails. We arrived early and I informed them that one of our friends had to cancel so it would just be two. The hostess looked at her seating chart and asked "is a high top okay?" I said no, as I am not a fan of hightops. I booked on open table and if I wanted that, I would have requested it. When I said no, she looked annoyed, grunted and roller her eyes. She then looked athe seating chart, took menus and started walking away. I wasn't sure if she was going to check on a table or do something else as she didn't ask us ti follow her. She got a few feet away, then turned around and told us to follow her. When we arrived at our table she said we could put our coats on the windowsill as they "clean and sanitize" it every day. It was a big enough booth we both just set them to our side. She then said "but I don't know how clean the bottom of the table is". It was just a odd thing to say and she already had rubbed me the wrong way. I couldn't believe that as a hostess she would act that way. I will say the food was amazing and our waitress, Emily, was so sweet and fantastic. She made excellent suggestions for both cocktails and entrées, which we loved. If the food had not been as delectable as it was or if Emily had not been as wonderful, the entire experience would have been ruined by the hostess attitude and behavior. They are the first person your customers interact with, so it really sets the tone for the entire experience.

We have been to Plate a couple of times now and the food is always wonderful. We did have a newer waiter, Kenny P., this time and he was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the food and his personality was great. He let us take the lead on how quickly we wanted to do things and he just slipped in when needed. It was a wonderful dinner!

The vibes are good and the service is good, but the food is so extremely mediocre. I brought my dish home and seasoned it myself and it was amazing. Beforehand it lacked seasoning/flavor. So. I probably won’t be back ??♀️
Great food, great location and ambiance but I felt rushed having dinner. We were not even finished with appetizer's that the staff was already bringing the main dishes. Waitress brought the dessert menu as soon as were finished with main dish. When I go out, I like to take my time. And I would appreciate the server bringing the check only when I ask for it.

Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable. Two of three of us enjoyed our entrees. The risotto was bland and not the normal texture you'd expect from a risotto. Highly recommend the chocolate cake for dessert
