I had a hankering for BBQ so I went to get takeout on a whim. $17 open faced brisket sandwich, a little steep but I’ll take it, I don’t mind paying a little more to get fed. Got home and opened my box and the amount of meat made me think someone was playing a prank on me. Frankly the brisket tasted good but the lack of it was frustrating and showed a need for customer knowledge on the part of Cox. I’ve been here before and been satisfied but seriously, people don’t come to a BBQ place just to have a sample. Please put more meat on the plate. The downsized portions are sad. We’re counting on you as Manhattans BBQ provider. You’ve lost my business for a while, be back in a year to see if there’s more meat for the price. Do it right.

Oh my word y’all, when I tell y’all they have the best catfish po boy I have everrrr tasted ??that would be an understatement! It’s soooo delicious and real! It was so fresh and even though it was on this soft hoagie bun with all the toppings, my fish still had its crisp. It wasn’t soggy or nothing. I DO RECOMMEND. I will be back again and again!!!! I have had ribs and brisket as well and it was also very top quality meat delicious meat! My favorite is the catfish po boy combo though hands down!

I have loved this place for years. It has been a while since I've came. Food was totally different this time. All the containers looked like they had food all over them and some weren't completely closed. The pulled chicken was good and macaroni and cheese was good. The gumbo smelled and tasted sour. Any other day I would give this place 5 stars. We spent well over $100 and the young lady at the window was very rude when we asked for our drinks that went with our meal. This was very disappointing, because my family and I have always loved Cox BBQ.

Cozy que joint in Manhattan with a nice atmosphere. The staff were pleasant and friendly (5 stars). I ordered the competition ribs and they were good. They were moist, tender and had a nice rub, no sauce needed.I also ordered the brisket and it was not good, not even fair. It was poorly smoked and had a poor smoke ring. It was dry and overcooked and was lacking flavor. It may have had salt but I did not discern any other spices (pepper, garlic, onion, etc). It tasted like a bad pot roast.I would return for ribs but they ruined good beef in my opinion. I suggest the postmaster visit Texas to learn how brisket should taste.

I always like to support locally owned establishments—as I did today. The food was excellent, 5 star. But the service and environment were horrible. Starting off by receiving cups that were horribly chipped and covered in stains that when asked to the cashier she snapped “they are just hard water stains”. Then trying to find a clean table was impossible. By the time we ate our food and left, there were no clean tables in the entire restaurant. When I went to ask for a to go cup I mentioned that they may want to clean some tables off for new customers, the same cashier smirked and said “we’re busy”. If busy is four tables of customers in the lobby and one car in the drive through, I’d hate to see what she thinks busy is! Management is clearly not paying attention to the front or the level of customer service that is happening at their restaurant.

Food was hot and freshly made. Restaurant was filthy!! Almost 95% of tables needed to be cleared and cleaned off. This was at 1:00 pm and I realize they probably had a large lunch crowd however, my wife went to ask for a to-go cup and lid and mentioned there weren't any clean tables and the answer: "we are busy!" They were all literally standing around in the kitchen. And on top of that, she used a snarky tone with her reply! I love to support a local non-chain restaurant but y'all need to get your act together. And you need to purchase some new drink ware. Your plastic cups are so severely hard water stained it's disgusting.

Brisket was not cut on cross grain so it was impossible to cut and eat. I wasn’t sure if it had been smoked as it had no flavor. Worst BBQ I’ve had. So expensive!

This is our first time coming here. We just moved here in August. I brought my 2 daughters with us, they were interested in the brownies while we were ordering and they received a sample. When we got our drink and number and sat down, a few minuets later we received our food. Then Christine came over with some more brownies for my girls. It was a very nice gesture and we’re very appreciative. The service was great from all the staff, but miss Christine topped it with the extra brownies. Thank you so much! ? we will be back again!

Absolutely trash. My meal was free as I had Cox at my wife’s Christmas party. Let me tell you the pork and brisket both tasted exactly like cardboard, the beans were absurdly salted beyond being edible and the Mac and cheese clearly started off in a can. How noodles can be over done and under done at the same time is beyond me and you can convince me the cheese is anything other than mostly made from plastic. This chain should be held criminally liable for this poor excuse for food. Disrespecting a cows life has literally never been so tasteless.

I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with baked beans. On the menu, it says their original barbecue sauce is on the pulled pork, but there was no sauce on it. It wasn’t as tender as I’d like, but adding the baked beans onto it helped and it was good. I don’t know why it looks dead all the time because it would be a great place to go on the weekends with family. Overall, it’s pretty nice and somewhere I’d recommend to friends.

We should’ve known better when there was only one other patron inside on a Friday evening. For a party of 6 to all be dissatisfied by the food, service, and atmosphere; there has to be something wrong. Bbq is too expensive to be so bad.

I was in town for a work trip and was looking for solid KS BBQ. This was not that. I ordered the Rib and wing platter which was $21 plus tip.First thing is that the staff were wonderful and were the entire time.Secondly the food. For $21, what I guess you could call a 1/4 rack of pork ribs, a home style fry’s with cheese, pico on them and two full wings a let down. The portion on the ribs was much smaller than expected and they were sliced very thin. They were good, but I’ve had so much better. The potatoes in the middle were the best thing on the plate. The wings were what I would describe as burnt, moist but dry? The skin was so tough I couldn’t tear the wing apart, ended up not trusting the wings and put them down.Guess I’ll swing back to Asheville, NC next time I want solid BBQ.

You can tell your at a chain BBQ. Gives off a very corporate feel. I had the Burnt Ends. Portion was good, but they had what looked like pulled pork mixed in with my Burnt Ends? I ordered just 1/2 pound of Burnt ends.
