A little understaffed (to be expected in this economy), but very good food. Well worth the wait, good environment, great margaritas.

Stopped in this place while visiting from Phoenix. We had second thoughts because the parking lot was empty, but it was early so we decided to give it a try. We were NOT sorry! The owner greeted us at the door and was very friendly. We ordered margaritas which were great, then ordered our food which was excellent!! The portions are very generous allowing us to take some home and eat the next day for lunch. If you want great authentic Mexican food, don’t miss this restaurant!! I’ll definitely go back on my next visit to Olathe!!

Food was excellent. We had the shrimp tacos and chicken quesadillas. Both were excellent. I also had the Paloma which was good but I was caught off guard by the sugar rim, I should have read the details more closely.

Great food and services. Their chef knows their way around seafood. We haven't had any fish/shrimp/crab/oyster entrée that is a disappointment. My favorite is ceviche. Tres leches cake is very tasty and bar tenders make pretty mean drinks ? Plus they serve brunch at weekends. Who could ask for more ?

My girlfriend and I have become regulars here at El Maviri. Rudy and his staff are amazing! We can't say enough good things about this place. It's definitely a hidden gem in the Kansas City metro and we always are recommending this place. Food is ALWAYS fresh and delicious. Alex, the chef, is awesome. He comes out and talks to all the customers and makes sure everything is good. Very personable staff. Makes you feel like you're part of the family!

We really enjoyed our dinner here. The Simply the Best margaritas were good, the sour mix tasted freshly made. All of the food was made well and I even liked all three dips (salsa, queso, and guac). I did add a little salt to my guac but that was a simple fix. My boyfriend loved the queso. I got the pineapple shrimp ceviche and it was good! Although I wish they had some appetizer size ceviche because that's a lot of ceviche for one person in one go . It was still good though. I scooped a lot of it up with chips. My boyfriend had the tropical fried shrimp which he really enjoyed and I stole his small garden salad which was light and refreshing with a slightly sweet vinaigrette and lots of avocado. The side of rice that came with this entrée was decent but it was the only thing we didn't finish. The service was also very good. We'll definitely be back.

The food is delicious and the service is great. They have the best ceviche and uniquely prepared, flavorful seafood. My son and husband don't love seafood so they get the tacos and quesadillas, which are great as well! The margaritas are very good, which is always a plus!! You must try this place.

Tried this restaurant for the first time order the street tacos restaurant was clean staff was amazing food was out of this world I would highly recommend if you have not tried this restaurant don't overlook it.
I would give this restaurant five stars for the food but the smell when you walk in is absolutely horrid. Once you come in and sit down for a while you can forget about it. Now the FOOD is amazing. Everything is very fresh and delicious. The ceviche - any one you get - is amazing. The alcoholic beverages are great too. Cannot wait to come here during the summer for the patio and cold seafood.

While some KCMO people might think this is a great distance, I prefer to think in terms of time. Because it is not far off the highway and has a big parking lot, it is easy to get to and worth the effort. The interior is not upscale, while the food and margaritas are. I prefer to think I am paying for great seafood & drink. There are other Mexican dishes, but we went for seafood and fish.
