The Rub is one of my favorite BBQ restaurants in KC.I love their pulled pork sandwich. The fries and the sweet cornbread were delicious.The prices were reasonable for the quality.Plenty of spaces to sit and eat inside.

Warning to anyone planning to dine in. We visited Sunday afternoon but all the tables were very dirty. We cleaned the least dirty one and ate while observing several other customers having to do the same. There were 3 employees relaxing in back of the counter and after finally getting the attention of a short blond guy playing on his phone I told him all the tables were dirty. He just smirked at me and said "really?" and went back to his phone. We then watched 2 more customers clean their tables before they could eat. This restaurant is nasty and apparently doesn't want dine-in customers. Disgusting.

Food is great my only complaint is that the portion sizes can vary wildly based on who is serving you, I work nights and tend to only get two meals a day these days and it's tough to justify eating here if I'm not certain that I'll get enough

I thought that the Rub was a great experience! It is counter service which surprised me but the employees were great and they helped us pick out our food. The "tips" burrito was huge and really tasty( and filling). We also split a full rack of ribs that reminded me of the ribs Fred Flintstone would love! It is a huge serving that 2 of us couldn't finish. Great bbq sauce options to pick from.

Not impressed. Had the #3 & #4 combos for a group of 7. Brisket had no smoke flavor and tasted like it was made in the oven - dry. The burnt ends tasted pretty much the same. The one bright spot were the ribs. Actually tasted good and soft. Would definitely not go back.

Great guys behind the counter!!! Great BBQ!!! Had the burndt sandwich with a side of cream corn... YUM!!! Brought my dog in and they gave her a side of burndt ends!!! Great place, will be back!!
Thought we would try The Rub this weekend. I had pulled pork which was pretty good. My husband ordered hillbilly bowl which he enjoyed. Others had beef sandwich which was good but none of our meat was very hot (like freshly cooked). Overall it felt like a fast food bbq place with ordering at the counter and going down a line. The man behind the meat was not friendly at all even when I said we’ve never been here before, no comment. ?♀️. The younger staff were very friendly and helpful. Glad we tried some place different but unsure if we will return.

Really good value for the price with the Wednesdays lunch special: jumbo bbq meat sandwich and side. Bbq turkey is good, fries are well salted ( if you like them that way, which I do). Regular bbq sauce was sweet and not my thing but tastes are subjective. Really quick service and good information from staff.
