I understand the difficulty of getting a thick filet cooked nicely at medium rare, unfortunately it took staff forever to come back to the table and then too long to return my steak (which only needed maybe 1 minute at most). Cocktails were "meh" and overpriced at that. Tables are very small.

Our waitress, Karen B was fantastic! She made our evening amazing. I'm 68 & she got the biggest tip I have ever given. The only thing that was bad, they wouldn't take my sons coupon for his birthday. It did say not on .holiday, I realize it was Easter Sunday. Again kudos to Karen B. I will be back & I sure will request her. Thanks for making it a amazing meal. Everything at J Gilbert's is very good. The wood fired steaks, chicken and lobster are all excellent. Not to mention the Manhattans are the absolutely the best in town. I would highly recommend J Gilbert's for any occasion.

Alcohol drink was weak , I mentioned it to Nick our waiter and he didn't get it. Just played if off. My baked potatoes was not cooked through and was warm , not hot. My wife's veggies were ok , she said. Our steaks were good and the kids sliders were perfect. Service wasn't the best I've had.
J. Gilbert’s is a GREAT option for a nice night out for dining. Nice atmosphere, fantastic service, solid food and a nice drink selection, this place will deliver on what you’re looking for. Particularly with so much in the downtown KC area, I’m thankful for such a good establishment in the Overland Park area.

The food was terrific and our server was wonderful . He was very attentive. The noise level was a bit high. The light fixtures tend to act as transmitters of echoes. They are an upside down cone and the sound from one table near the cone really carried. We could hear every word they said.
