Where to begin....Let me preface this by saying that the staff was very friendly, and I apologize ahead of time for this review.I realize that Salina KS is out of the Kansas City BBQ realm of influence I am accustomed to, but if this place was voted #1, the other BBQ joint must be spooning Alpo out of the can in front of the waiting customers....and quite possibly, the people of Salina have no taste buds and will eat anything.The beenie weenies they served as pit beans... seriously?The grocery store potato salad ... Seriously?The pork bubble gum on a stick they served up as ribs ... seriously?Their sign says "serious BBQ"All I can think is : You seriously call this BBQ?

This is truly some of the best BBQ that I have ever had IMHO. The burnt ends are amazing! Sides: potato salad, coleslaw and baked beans are very good. The ribs are good but, I would consider the burnt ends to be the specialty of Hickory Hut.When my husband and I make the drive from Colorado to the east and back. We always try to time it so that we can stop at this restaurant & it never disappoints, been coming here for years.This should be a gold standard for this style of barbecue.

A place I could visit again and again. Such good barbeque. It was my second time there after a few years. I'd highly recommend this place to any barbeque lover. The 1/2 ribs basket is work for 2 people even. And so much worth the price you pay. There's enough seating even for a bigger group. But both times I've been there I've also seen so many people coming through the drive through to pick up. Prolly one of the best bbq spots in KS hands down.

Salina is a lot farther from KC than I thought. Ribs were burnt and flavorless with not much meat. Place was busy and they claim to be #1 but I've had better from about anywhere
Was in town for a work event and found this place on Google maps. Had a recent rating so thought I would give a try. Had the pulled pork sandwich with fries and the baked beans. Ordered at the counter and it didn't take longer than 5 minutes for the food to come out. Sandwich was very good and beans were tasty as well. Fries were hot and crispy. Great little hole in the wall BBQ place. Would recommend to anyone in Salina to give it a try.

Great place to grab some grub! A bit pricey but all BBQ is. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and the bill was just under $80.Food was great and a lot of it!The inside is a bit dated with some seats needing to be replaced but that’s the only “negative” thing I have to say!Deff check this place out if you’re in town.

Stopped in for lunch on my way through town. Ordered the burnt ends sandwich, with baked beans, and fries. Order at counter service. Food delivered within a few minutes. Sandwich was good. The burnt ends were flat and pulled apart more than I am used to but still very good. Beans were tasty and had sausage mixed in. Fries and BBQ sauce average. Prices are fair. I loved the help yourself pickle and jalapeño stand.
