My sister picked this place for her birthday dinner. A group of us enjoyed the hibachi (dinner and a show). The food was cooked well and was a big portion. The servers were attentive. It is in an older building and nothing special about the hibachi show. However my sister loves this place and has been multiple times over the years. They also have sushi and lunch options. Stop by if your looking for Japanese style food in the Lenexa area. But it's not worth going out of your way to try out.

Neat experience and a fun little lunch. We stopped in after being in the area for the day, finally giving them a try, and we enjoyed ourselves. All of the prepared sushi and small starter dishes that were placed on the train were delicious, and it was enjoyable being able to grab at will instead of waiting for a prepared to order roll(s). We only chose to try the sushi train and didn't select anything off their other menu, but we plan on trying other things when we go back!

My absolute favorite place to go for SUSHI! I love all the varieties... and if you happen to not like it no biggie they're sold 2 pieces at a time so you're not wasting a whole roll but instead you're getting to try out sooo many different kinds...And if you do REALLY like a particular piece they will make it especially for you...not to mention the people that work there are the sweetest people EVER ?
I love the experience of them cooking in front of you. I always have a good time here.

This used to be my go-to for sushi and loved sharing my experience with everyone, well now i'm sharing the opposite. My wife and I arrived at the train at 8:15 on a Friday night. As soon as we sat down the owner (or manager) tells the sushi chefs filling the train "no more rolls". Um... they are open until 10... what...? why...? It was a bit slow when we arrived and I guess since no more new people were coming in they felt like they didn't need to give us the train treatment. There were about 8 other people still dining as well. Yes I could have just ordered rolls, but that's not why I come to Sakura. I asked one of the chefs to make some lemon tops (my favorite they make) and he said no, we are not putting more rolls out. Ok then... About 4-5 new people came in 45 minutes later and they started putting new things out again, but my wife and I had already ordered from the menu. We were actually almost done with our meal. Way to make us feel like valued customers (sarcasm emphasized) Also worth noting they have raised prices a good chunk over the last few years. It's hard to get out of there for less than a hundred bucks as a couple. I wouldn't say its totally overpriced, but it's not very affordable. But hey, I pay for the variety, which I didn't get. On a side note, there's a big aquarium that has sat empty for years now. I remember when the owners had more pride in their business. Sad to say I don't think I'll return again.

We LOVE the Shawnee location! We've been going here for years and the sushi never disappoints. They usually have a great variety on the train, but if there's a specific item I want I just asked and they'll make it. My favorite non sushi item is the tempura stuffed pepper. Top 3 favorite rolls are Lemon Top Hot Summer KC
