After spending 2 months here this place has grown on me. Tacos, jambalaya, GF pizza are all stellar. The service is outstanding. Great staff. Food has been spectacular. Still haven't retried the burnt ends however.

Granted I was there on Super Bowl night in Kansas during a game the Chiefs will eventually win. But even with all of the extra work that puts on a serving staff they were polite and customer service focused. I really enjoyed my burger and would visit Johnny's again if I'm ever in the area.

I like it, I will be back. It's in walking distance of the hotel I like to stay at. It lacks the nostalgia of the one I grew up with in Lawrence, but it's good. I've eaten at this Johnny's 3 times.The shrimp skewers are bland if you just get them grilled. Apparently, they don't season the grilled shrimp. Good size and portion, but next time, I'll order blackened or fried.Their pizzas are good. Not much to say. Better than most bar and grill pizzas, not as good as a place that specializes in pizza.Burgers. Johnny's does burgers as well as anyone. They set the standard for a bar burger decades ago. The Topeka Johnny's burger isn't quite as good as the ones from my teens and childhood growing up in Larence with the OG Johnny's, but nostalgia reigns supreme. Still damned goo burger.All three things, chubby guy approved portions.
The hostess and server were great, but we ordered the tavern espinaca and got way more chips than dip, and the dip turned gummy after a couple minutes. I ordered the chicken tenders meal and the breading was so salty that I couldn't even eat one whole chicken strip (and I'm usually pretty heavy handed when it comes to salt). I had my husband try a bite just to make sure my taste buds weren't off and he said he also couldn't eat them because of the saltiness. The fries were mediocre. We overall had just hoped for better because the people that worked there were so efficient and nice.

Everything was pretty good! It is difficult to not compare the "new" version of Johnny's to the original location in Lawrence from 20+ years ago though. There was just something about that Johnny's that the new ones just don't have. That doesn't make them bad, not at all.

They have a great friendly service staff and manager. their food is really good burgers and wings and pizza are all amazing. They have a good beer selection as well as liquor selection so there’s always something good to drink there. Good place to try out if you haven’t been there yet.
